Although there’s a long list ofTV shows that were definitely canceled long before their time,Hannibalis often remembered by many as perhaps one of the most tragic. Not only was the series an intriguing, dark, and impeccably well put together take on the Hannibal Lector narrative, but it was also a show that still had a lot of ground to cover, with a cliff hanger that alluded there was still more to come.
As fans might’ve seen, Bryan Fuller,Mads Mikkelson, Hugh Dancy, and Gillian Anderson reunited for a discussion aboutHannibalon a Nerdist House charity panel. While many expected the event would be little more than a loving ode to the beloved show,Bryan Fuller was very open with his optimistic outlook aboutHannibalreturning someday in the future, hinting that he sees a lot of potential in aSilence of the Lambsmini-series featuring the show’s leading stars.

“It will be interesting to see what happens with the show moving forward or whether there is ever to be aSilence of the Lambsminiseries with this cast,” Fuller tells fans, clearly interested in seeing the iconic movie reimagined for modern audiences. He also goes on to discussSilence of the Lambs’influence onHannibal’sstory, revealing that he took the characteristics of the film’s protagonist, Clarice, and “wove it into Will Graham in a way that kind of hybridized those characters.”
Regardless, it seems whichever way the show returns, Fuller is fairly confident that the door will never be entirely closed onHannibalseason 4. It seems the director even alluded to having an idea for the show’s next entry, telling fans: “the great thing about the idea – with members of the cast in terms of where we’re going - is that if we are going to take five years, six years, seven years or what have you and everyone’s still interested in coming back then that’s just how long they’ve been on the lam, as it were. Then the story picks up from that point and we’ll adapt.”
Fuller does continue to tease the idea a little more, however, revealing that the4th seasonwould be “very sort of sunny and sweaty, as compared to the cold harsh realities of Toronto. I think it would be fun to go sweaty and sunny and beachy and a whole new temperature.” Evidently, there’s no confusion over whether Bryan Fuller would be interested in continuing his work onHannibalat some point in the near future.
