Summary
A hilariousDestiny 2clip shows an entire fireteam being wiped out by a powerful sword combo from Crota during the final encounter of the reprised Crota’s End raid. Many of the same tricks and strategies from the original Crota’s End raid still apply inDestiny 2, and the same can be said about Crota’s furious string of attacks with his Hive sword.
Season of the Witch and the Crota’s End raidwere revealed during the August 22Destiny 2Showcase, which also introduced more new details about The Final Shape expansion. Roughly one week later, the Crota’s End raid was released on September 1 inDestiny 2, allowing players to earn fan-favorite Legendary weapons and gear such as the Abyss Defiant auto rifle and Oversoul Edict pulse rifle. After defeating Crota in the raid’s final encounter,Destiny 2players may progress the Bottomless Pit quest to earn the Necrochasm Exotic auto rifle. During the 48-hour contest mode, players had the opportunity to immediately earn Necrochasm after defeating Crota.

While attempting to draw Crota’s attention away from fellow fireteam members,Destiny 2player Itentify and the rest of their fireteam fell victim to the Hive boss' ferocious sword combos. Normally, Crota will slam his sword down when Guardians are in proximity and wait a few seconds before attacking again. During this particular raid instance, Crota attacked Itentify and his fireteam much more quickly with successive sword strikes that quickly killed Guardians directly in front of him. The gameplay clip shows that the fireteam attempted to avoid a full wipe by using theWarlock Well of Radiance Super, but Crota was more than powerful enough to bypass the Super ability’s regenerative effects inDestiny 2.
InDestiny 2, Crota appears to retain the same attack patterns and behavior fromthe original Crota’s End raid. SomeDestiny 2fans on Reddit jokingly refer to Crota’s unrelenting attack on Itentify as “revenge” since the Crota’s End raid was subject to scrutiny for years. In the past, theDestinycommunity would criticize Crota’s End since its one of the shortest and least difficult raids in theDestinyfranchise’s history.
Although the Crota’s End raid is less intricate than most ofDestiny 2’sexisting raids, Itentify and other players show that the raid still holds some surprises. In fact, those who are able to gather a fireteam and defeat Crota will earn worthwhile loot that will help them reach the power level cap forDestiny 2Season of the Witch. Moreover, the Crota encounter is relatively straightforward, so Itentify’s fireteam likely had no issues defeating him on the subsequent attempt.
Destiny 2is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
