Summary

Hogwarts Legacyis chock-full of activities for players to complete, and among those activities are a nearly overwhelming number of collectibles for them to find, including 33 peculiar Demiguise statues. Although theseDemiguise statues(and the game’s other collectibles) can be obtained before the story ends, many players have found themselves still seeking the statues out, even after the credits roll.

Given the massive success ofHogwarts Legacy, a sequel is bound to happen. However, packing the game full of collectibles to provide the illusion of endgame content may not be enough to sustain the game long-term. Avalanche will need to seriously consider the longevity ofHogwarts Legacy 2, and the content it places at the end of its main story will ultimately determine that.

Hogwarts Legacy 2 Will Need a Better Endgame Than Collectibles

Hogwarts Legacy 2 Should Have More Post-Game Content

One ofHogwarts Legacy’s most glaring issues when it comes to its endgame is that players only receive two additional quests upon completing the game, with one of them being tied to the game’s most prevalent collectible — Field Guide Pages. This also means that players can technically complete one of those quests before the credits roll, asevery Field Guide Pageis obtainable prior to the main story’s conclusion. This makes for an unfortunate lack of post-game content forHogwarts Legacyplayers, especially for those who ensure they’ve completed every optional activity the game has to offer before moving on to the end of the story.

In light of this, it would do well forHogwarts Legacy 2to have more post-game content. AsHogwarts Legacyended with a major decision, perhapsHogwarts Legacy 2’s post-game world could be influenced in some way by a choice of similar impact and offer new quests to players that are unique to the decision made. Another option forHogwarts Legacy 2’s endgame would be to include an endless dungeon mode where players can continue strengthening their witches and wizards by obtaining increasingly powerful gear. Something similar toDiablo’s endless progression mechanics would certainly go a long way in the world ofHogwarts Legacy.

Hogwarts Legacy 2 Could Feature a New Game Plus Mode

One feature thatHogwarts Legacylacked that has become common to similar games is a New Game Plus mode. Traditionally, New Game Plus has allowed players to begin a second playthrough with the skills and armor they obtained in their previous playthrough of a game, but many developers have begun evolving that traditional formula into something more long-term.Starfield’s New Game Plus, for instance, not only allows players to utilize a second playthrough, but the universe changes each time they begin anew. While Bethesda wasn’t the first developer to attempt a New Game Plus of this nature, it’s surely a sign of things to come in the world of gaming.

Hogwarts Legacy 2could implement a New Game Plusmode similar to those currently being developed in games. Perhaps new quests not featured in an initial playthrough could become available during New Game Plus. In addition, new gear, cosmetic items, and collectibles could also become attainable, either in the world itself or through new quests. Finally, asHogwarts Legacydropped players into its world as a fifth-year student, perhaps a New Game Plus playthrough of the game would allow them to start with even more experience, thus changing the way other characters interact with them.

It will be interesting to see what Avalanche does withHogwarts Legacy 2, especially when it comes to the sequel’s endgame. While many players have found themselves periodically returning to the developer’s beautifully crafted open world, there are still a great portion of them who desire more from its endgame. Hopefully,Hogwarts Legacy 2manages to be just as wondrous as its predecessor, if not more so, especially in the endgame.
