Animal Crossing: New Horizonsbrings a whole host ofnew bugs and fish to catch in June, one of which is the Ribbon Eel. This guy can be difficult to find, so knowing when to look and what to look for can be a huge help for players.

Each month,Animal Crossing: New Horizonsintroduces and removes certain seasonal bugs and fish, giving players something new to chase down every time. One of the new fish in the game is the Ribbon Eel, but though they are readily available, they aren’t very common fish.

Still, players wanting tofill out their museumand Critterpedia will need to catch at least one of these slippery eels, so it is important to know what to look for. Each creature inAnimal Crossingonly appears during certain months and at certain times of the day.

The first thing players should know is that Ribbon Eels only appear between the months of June and October, meaning they still have some time to catch one of these things so there is no particular rush. Next, the Ribbon Eel is available to catch at any time, whether its the middle of the day or the dead of night, but searching for one may be easier at day for the sake of visibility. Finally, these critters are found out at sea, sodon’t bother searching in riversor anything. The best way to find them is to patrol the beach front.

While doing so, players won’t need to catch every fish they see. The Ribbon Eel has a unique shape to its shadow, appearing as a long, slender, and rather wiggly silhouette in the water. The video above shows what this looks like, and it should be relatively easy to distinguish from the normal fish shadows fans are used to seeing. Despite their extremely flexible schedule, Ribbon Eels can be somewhat rare. Many players have reported findingmore Whale Sharks than Ribbon Eels, so players may need to be patient when searching for one. Just remember not to scare it off when found.

Animal Crossing: New Horizonsoffers other critters to catch in June as well, and players wanting to knowhow to catch Rainbow Stagsand other bugs/fish can finally do so now. Keep an eye out for the eel shadows and anything else that looks unfamiliar as well.
