The latest update forVampire Survivors, Patch 0.7.3, added a ton of new content. Among this new content were two new characters. One of these additions, Sir Ambrojoe, is a standard character; for the second newcomers, the game added a secret character named Peppino, who is the first plant-like survivor. In fact, the sprite for Peppino is one of the fir trees from the Il Molise stage.

Like most of the secret characters inVampire Survivors, Peppino starts with an evolved weapon. In Peppino’s case, it’s the evolved form of the Garlic weapon, Soul Eater. This is possibly the easiest of the secret characters to unlock, provided the right character is selected.
Unlocking Peppino
Unlocking this character requires the player toprovide at least 100,000 points of healing to the plant enemiesin the Il Molise stage. Doing this requires the use of the Celestial Dusting weapon. If the player hasunlockedVampire Survivors' merchantthey can purchase this weapon with any character.
However, players will want to use O’Sole Meeo. There are two reasons for this. The first is that O’Sole Meeostarts with Celestial Dusting. The second and more important reason is because O’Sole Meeo doesn’t take damage from the plant enemies in Il Molise. Once the player heals the plants 100,000 points,a tune will playto signal the requirement has been met. At this point, the player can exit the stage and return to the character select screen. Peppino should be available to unlock for 666 gold.

Peppino’s Stats
Peppino has some interesting passive bonuses that make playing it a much different experience than the other characters.Peppino starts with a -60% Area, +2 Armor, +100% Magnet, +20 Max Health, -100% MoveSpeed.
That’s not a typo, Peppino suffers a 100% movement penalty, meaning it is normally immobile. Before playing Peppino, it’s advisable to purchase both of the MoveSpeed global Power-ups. This will give Peppino a -90% MoveSpeed. Now Peppino can crawl along at a snail’s pace, but withthe Wings passive itemat level five, the character moves fast enough for its MoveSpeed penalty to not be a hindrance. The -60% Area lessens by 10% every few levels, and at level 21 this passive bonus penalty is negated.

Using Peppino
Peppino’s +100% Magnet might make players think there’s no need to get the Attractorb passive item. With this character’s slow movement speed, it’s better togo ahead and get the Attractorbif it’s offered. In terms of weapons, Peppino needs a good balance of point-defense and wide-area attacks. Starting with the Soul Eater helps protect the player from being mobbed in the early minutes of a stage.
Vampire Survivors' Magic Wand and Cross weaponsare both great for targeting the enemy creatures that get too close, which is something a character this slow needs. The Death Spiral is a good weapon for Peppino, but its unevolved form, Axe, is a bit of a liability until the player gets it to about level five. TheLa Borra is also a great pick, but this weapon works well with every character.Get the Mad Groove Arcana, otherwise, there’s no way Peppino will be able to get the pick-up items in a stage.
