Marvel’s Spider-Manis scheduled to receive two new suits in an update that coincides withSpider-Man: No Way Home. Both the red, black, and gold Integrated Suit and the black-and-gold suit fromSpider-Man: No Way Homerelease inMarvel’s Spider-Man Remasteredon December 10, only a week before the film releases in theatres.

However, it is notable that these suit cosmetics are only offered forMarvel’s Spider-Man Remasteredon PlayStation 5throughMarvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales' Ultimate Edition. When asked by a fan why the decision was made not to include these cosmetic skins inMarvel’s Spider-Man’s original PlayStation 4 edition, Insomniac provided an answer that some fans are unsatisfied with.

Insomniac responded to this inquiry with an explanation that regards previous updates toMarvel’s Spider-Manon PS4. According to Insomniac, the choice not to have these new cosmetics available on both PlayStation platforms is due to an oversaturated amount of updates that already appear on the PS4 edition. Apparently, this wears on “streaming performance from the PS4’s hard drive” and the decision to give it toMarvel’s Spider-Man Remasteredon PS5 alone is to ensure “optimal performance” for PS4 users.

Unfortunately, this response has only cultivated negativity in theMarvel’s Spider-Mancommunity who does not think this answer is justifiable enough. Indeed,Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered’s exclusive update then further substantiates the PS5 edition, which also features a completely separatefacial model forMarvel’s Spider-Man’s Peter Parker, apart from the PS4 edition. As a result, fans believe that Insomniac is attempting to separate itself from the PS4 edition and migrate wholly to the PS5 edition, and fans who have yet to procure a next-gen console feel left out.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2was announced as a PS5 exclusive, so it is only a matter or time before Insomniac’s superhero franchise does migrate over completely to the newer generation. But Insomniac’s explanation provides enough justification to rationally state their case. Having 19 updates inMarvel’s Spider-Manon PS4, as well as the restraints that the PS4 has that the PS5 might not have, it makes sense that the update would make a better home on a less stressed console’s hard drive.

As for PS4 owners, it is unfortunate that they will not be able to acquire these suits as previous hardware gradually becomes redundant. It is exciting nonetheless thatMarvel’s Spider-Man Remasteredwill be receiving these new suit cosmetics soon in order to celebrateSpider-Man: No Way Home’s theatrical release, and it will be just as exciting to see whatcosmetics are planned forMarvel’s Spider-Man 2when more information is eventually unveiled.
