The current generation of graphics cards is drawing to a close, althoughInteldoesn’t appear to have made much headway. WithNvidia preparing its RTX 40-seriesand AMD looking to launch RDNA 3 cards this year, the next era is fast approaching, and team blue seems to be stuck on the starting block. However, the tech giant is still looking to make an impact in the industry, and the company is claiming that its mobile Arc GPUs stand a chance against the current competition.

In a recent report from Tom’s Hardware,Intelis saying that the A730M and A770M outperform the likes of the Nvidia RTX 3050 Ti Mobile and RTX 3060 Mobile, respectively. It seems as though, in new benchmark tests, the hardware from team blue is up to 12% faster than team green’s. However, as the report goes on to say, this increase could be down to the other specifications that Intel used. For example, the tests used the latest Core i7 12700H and had 16 GB of DDR5 memory, which could have tipped the results in its favor.

That’s not to say that the A730M and A770M aren’t good GPUs.Intel Arc benchmark testshave been conducted numerous times over the past few months, and while there are disparities between results, and some sources indicate Arc mobile hardware may not be as good as first thought, there have been indications that it could be on par with the likes of the RTX 3070, maybe even the 3070 Ti, in terms of desktop variants. In any case, team blue’s hardware seems like it will stand up to some of the more powerful Nvidia graphics cards on the market. It’s just a question of getting hold of any of it.

Recently,Intel launched its desktop Arc graphics cards, but only in China for now. There have been concerns that it may not release worldwide, or at least in the US, until sometime later this year. Rumors have stated that it could be a Q4 launch window, but Intel doesn’t appear to be saying much about whether that’s true or not.

It’s still a much longer wait than the original release date, which was set for the beginning of this year. It’s possible that Intelwill be able to show its graphics card chops once products become more available. However, withNvidia’s RTX 4090 performanceso far looking pretty good, team blue may find itself struggling to catch up as the industry moves into the next generation.
