Jonathan Majors is adding another franchise to his resume by joining the cast ofMGM’sCreed 3. Now, the actor has opened up about how the Michael B. Jordan film will be different from the previous twoRockyspin-offs.

Majors has been on a hot streak in Hollywood as of late, especially with Marvel. By landing a role opposite of Jordan inMGM’sCreed 3,which will also beJordan’s directorial debut, Majors is showing no signs of slowing down.

During an interview with NME, Majors commented onJordan’s approach toCreed 3. “Michael is really trying to do something different with this Creed. Something that’s a bit more intimate,” said Majors. “With intimacy comes complexity. It’s he and I. It’s a story about these two men trying to work something out, and it’s very different from the others.” While fans can expect an epic showdown between Jordan’s Adonis and whoever Majors is set to play, it appears that the sports drama will strive to be a little bit more complex and personal.

After Ryan Coogler’sCreedrevamped the iconicRockyfranchise back in 2015 and Steven Caple Jr.‘sCreed 2sequel continued the success in 2018, Jordan has big expectations to live up to with the third installment. There seems to be a lot of hopefulness yet plenty of doubt regarding if Jordan can keep this next film in the franchise at a grounded level while also carrying the story on his own after it was confirmed starSylvester Stallone will not be returning to play Rocky. But by taking advice from the legendary Denzel Washington while shootingA Journal for Jordanand also adding an incredible talent like Majors to the cast, Jordan could possibly offer a fresh take on this story and produce something that fans still haven’t seen, even if this will be the 9th film in theRocky/Creeduniverse.

Majors will surely be one of Adonis’ most compelling antagonists, as he is no stranger to holding his ground as an actor in each of his projects. Majors is coming off critical successes with his work in projects likeThe Last Black Man in San Francisco,Spike Lee’sDa 5 Bloods, the Jordan Peele produced HBO seriesLovecraft Country, and now the recently released western from Netflix,The Harder They Fall. But perhaps his most intriguing role and one that fans will associate him with now is Kang the Conqueror/He Who Remains inLokiand the upcomingAnt-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

After bringing back the Dragos inCreed 2, fans believe that Majors could potentially play Clubber Lang’s son (with Clubber Lang played by Mr. T inRocky 3). Majors also revealed to Variety that he is currently training for the film, already adding 10 lbs. of muscle in two months. Whether all of that speculation is true, there’s no doubt that Majors' character will be another compelling one in the already successful reboot/sequel films.
