July 20 is going to be a big day forMarvel’s Spider-Man 2, as that’s when the game will be featured at San Diego Comic Con with a panel called “Symbiotic Relationships.” The big day that most people looking forward toSpider-Man 2likely have circled on their calendar is the new game’s October 20 release date, but fans should definitely keep an eye on July 20 as well. The initialSpider-Man 2trailer didn’t reveal much beyond the fact that the game would once again feature Peter Parker and Miles Morales, and that the two of them would find themselves at odds with Venom. Later, Sony released a trailer that confirmedKraven the Hunter’s involvementas the game’s primary antagonist as he attempts to hunt down The Lizard. That same trailer also gave fans some more insight into how exactly the symbiote suit will work in the game.RELATED:Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Takedown Idea Would Make The Game More ImmersiveBased on what’s been revealed so far, we know for certain thatPeter Parker will have the symbiote suitat some point duringSpider-Man 2, and that eventually that symbiote will bond with someone else and become Venom. It’s possible that fans will learn more about Venom’s identity at Comic Con on July 20, as Insomniac Games has titled the panel “Symbiotic Relationships.”
Who is Venom in the Spider-Man 2 Game?
Officially, Venom’s identity inSpider-Man 2has not been revealed, but it’s been heavily suggested thathe is Harry Osborn. The firstSpider-Mangame set up the idea that Harry Osborn has some kind of terminal illness that his father Norman is hoping to cure. The symbiote appears to be a part of this treatment plan, with Harry eventually becoming Venom after he bonds with it. Of course, it’s also possible that Insomniac is looking to throw fans off-course and someone else entirely will be Venom, but that remains to be seen.
What we do know is thatEddie Brock is not Venom in theSpider-Man 2game. Eddie Brock is the character most-associated with Venom and was the first Venom in the comic books. With the game clearly going in a much different direction, it will be interesting to see how fans react to a non-Eddie Brock Venom.
It’s also possible thatSpider-Man 2’s appearance at Comic Con on July 20won’t reveal any new information about the game, as unlikely as that may seem. Ultimately,Spider-Manfans will just have to wait for July 20 and see what Insomniac has in store.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2launches October 20, exclusively for PlayStation 5.
