A game namedJump Kingis going viral with Twitch streamers. The game has recently been played by top streamers includingAdmiralBahroo, Summit1g, lirik, forsen, and many, many more. The reason why is, like many games that go viral with Twitch streamers,Jump Kingis extremely challenging and punishing. It’s the perfect kind of game for having fun with Twitch chat and encourages all manner of interaction.
Jump Kingis aplatforming gamewhere the player is trying to lead their character up through a very tall tower. Each room of the tower has a variety of small platforms that the player has to jump to to reach the next room. The trick is that theJump Kingcharacter isn’t the easiest to control. They can be moved left or right, but the jumping requires players to hold down a button in order to “charge” a jump. If the player doesn’t aim correctly, they can fall through several rooms they’d previously passed.

WhyJump Kingis becoming a popular viral diversion forTwitch streamersshould hopefully be much more understandable. It’s a torturous game where basic jumping can be tedious, and it adds all manner of obstacles including ramps, snow, and quicksand to make the basic act even more difficult. Every fall can result in the player mentally breaking due to frustration. In other words, it’s exactly what Twitch viewers love to see streamers go through.
This actually isn’t the first time thatJump Kinghas grown suddenlypopular on Twitch. The game officially launched in May, then had a resurgence in June due to the launch of a new expansion named New Babe +. This newest surge of support comes from the release of another major expansion named Ghost of the Babe. It’s the most challenging expansion yet and only a handful of streamers have completed it. For example, it took streamer xqc around 11 hours to beat the baseJump Kinggame, but 48 total hours to beat Ghost of the Babe.
Jump Kingis just the latest game to join an impressive selection of frustratingly hard indie games to go viral on Twitch. Another recent example of it is Getting Over It with Bennet Foddy, which frustrated Twitch streamers for a good while. The trend perhaps goes back toI Wanna Be the Boshy, which was released ahead of Twitch itself coming out in 2011. 8 years later andI Wanna Be the Boshyremains a common game on Twitch. PerhapsJump Kingwill be too through the 2020s.
Jump King: Ghost of the Babeis available now on PC.
