Summary

League of Legendsclearly isn’t done with Skarner as Riot developer and popular public figure Phreak confirms more changes are coming for the champion in the near future. Throughout the lifespan of the globally popular MOBA from Riot Games,Skarner has notoriously been one of its hardest charactersto balance properly. Skarner has been the subject of multiple reworks from Riot, often making massive sweeping changes to his gameplay that have been largely “hit or miss.” Now, the new rework has reportedly not hit the mark set by Riot Games.

Following years of underwhelming performance, Skarner was the subject of one ofLeague of Legends' newest “Visual and Gameplay Updates” earlier this year. The changes saw a full rework of both Skarner’s visuals and his gameplay, looking to help bring the “Primordial Sovereign” back into the limelight. The update made Skarner able to suppress multiple enemies with his ult, as well as giving him a unique charge on his E ability that allows Skarner to ignore terrain. However, a new statement from Phreak suggests that Riot still isn’t satisfied with the champion.

With major changes coming to Skarner, Phreak also highlighted the disparity in Skarner’s play between the game’s Ranked queue and casual play against his pro representation. Since the release of the relaunch earlier this year, Skarner skyrocketed into a go-to pick for many professionalLeagueplayersas both a top lane Championand a jungler. InLeague of Legends' larger landscape, however, Skarner currently boasts just a 47% winrate for both of his most prominent roles. Phreak did confirm that the discussed Skarner changes would not be shipping with Patch 14.14.

The further changes to Skarner come asLeague of Legendshas given players and fans plenty of reason to talk throughout the year.
