Gran Turismo 7has garnered plenty of excitement from long-time fans of the franchise. The upcoming title will be thefirst numberedGran Turismotitlesince 2013’sGran Turismo 6released in the twilight of the PS3 era and the first game in the series since 2017’sGran Turismo Sport. Now, with the announced release date less than two months away, recent events have a prominent leaker speculating another delay may be soon to follow.

Sony andGran Turismohave been sharing plenty of information related to the upcomingGran Turismo 7in recent weeks. PlayStation andGran Turismorecently confirmed the iconic Daytona International Speedway would be returning, as well as revealing the officialGran Turismo 7DD Pro steering wheel and pedals for the game’s PS5 version.Gran Turismo 7’s preload date and file size were also recently uncovered. However, a canceled event has a prominent leaker believingGran Turismo 7may be delayed yet again.

Tom Henderson reported that a media event forGran Turismo 7scheduled for Tuesday has been quietly delayed, with no details given for the reason behind the cancellation. Henderson also posted a Tweet comparing the delay to a previous delay of an event forThe Last of Us 2,which was followed by the game being delayed, but has since deleted said Tweet. Henderson has previously leaked the release window forCriterion Games' upcomingNeed for Speedand several details aboutBattlefield 6among others.

Henderson was quick to refute any implied connection between the delays forGran Turismo 7andThe Last of Us 2’s media events, however, he did note that Sony likely would have made the delay public if the reason was related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. While the game’s release date is still over a month away, a delay of a media event falling this close to the game’s launch is likely to cause concern for some fans fearful of another delay.

Recent trailers and reveals have shown off the depth of content fans have to look forward to inGran Turismo 7. Polyphony Digital has revealed the depth of the game’s customization system, claiming to have themost customizable car parts inGran Turismohistory, and confirmed that the final release will sport over 400 cars and 90 tracks for players to race.

Gran Turismo 7is scheduled to release on March 4th for the PS4 and PS5.
