Announced during the Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase,Lorelai and the Laser Eyesis a non-linear puzzle adventure surrounding a murder mystery from publisher Annapurna Interactive and developer Simogo. Though the game is set to release on PC as well,Lorelai and the Laser Eyesis going to be a timed console exclusive for theNintendo Switch. The game comes to both PC and the Switch sometime in 2023.

Lorelai and the Laser Eyescomes to players from the same publishers of the winner of the 2020 DICE Award forbest portable game:Sayonara Wild Hearts, which is a music-based action game. Though this new game is a completely different genre and subject matter, fans can still be excited that it comes with Annapurna Interactive’s name attached to it, raising the hopes of all prospective players.Lorelai and the Laser Eyesis set up to be a thrilling, mysterious experience full of exciting discoveries and puzzling secrets to uncover.

The setting ofLorelai and the Laser Eyesis a mysterious old manor in central Europe. The trailer shows a woman wandering through the halls, solving puzzles to solve some sort of secret mystery. As the game summary suggests, the mystery could involve multiple murders, which is par for the course, as themurder mystery genreis quite popular right now. The mostly black-and-white trailer doesn’t reveal much more about the story, but it does provide a rich atmosphere, especially hinting at the Laser Eyes from the game’s title.

The description from the Nintendo Store page mysteriously hints at more characters in the game like an international auteur, an aristocratic artist, and a vagabond illusionist. It also invites players into the nightmarish surreality of the game’s enigmatic atmosphere in order to help the wandering woman solve the puzzle and resolve the mystery. The mysterious nature of the game’s description adds to the drama and mystery surrounding the game.

The trailer is reminiscent ofDevice 6, Simogo’s text-based mystery game for iOS, even thoughLorelai and the Laser Eyesis drawn in a stylish 3D manner. The camera seems to alter perspectives, sometimes in the corner of a room, sometimes high above, and sometimes in first-person. Similarly, Simogo’s previous game,Sayonara Wild Hearts,also had a varied approach to style and perspective.

Although it isn’t clear exactly how the players will interact with the world or what the gameplay loop will look like, the mysterious visuals and puzzling nature ofLorelai and the Laser Eyeshas fans excited to step into the enigma when the game is released.Along withStray, fans are looking forward to this game from Annapurna Interactive.
