Under the expanding list of characters, Marvel has officially listed The Amazing Spider-Man and Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. The images keep their faces contained, only showing the heroes in their Spider-Man costumes. However, the names clearly refer toAndrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire’s triumphant returnto the screen inNo Way Home. Garfield’s Amazing Spider-Man character is joined with not only an image of the suit from his two movies of the same title but a description that reads, “The one and only Amazing Spider-Man webs his way into the MCU.” Maguire, who starred in the original threeSpider-Manmovies in the early 2000s, has the description that reads, “Our friendly neighborhood hero swings into the MCU in his iconic suit.”

Prior to the release ofNo Way Home, speculation had surrounded the film on whether or not Garfield and Maguire would return to reprise their roles as Spider-Man. The confirmation of a combination of villains from their films arrived in the two official trailers released by Marvel and theSpider-Man: No Way Homecharacter posters. On the website, Marvel has also listed the villains fromNo Way Home, which include Electro, Green Goblin, Sandman, Doc Ock, and the Lizard.

While Holland’s Spider-Man had never faced any of these villains before, Maguire and Garfield had quite a few run-ins with these characters. Maguire fought Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin inhis firstSpider-Manfilm in 2002. In his second, he squared off against Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock, and in his third, he faced Thomas Haden Church’s Sandman, Topher Grace’s Eddie Brock, and James Franco’s Harry Osborn. In Garfield’s twoSpider-Manfilms, he faced Rhys Ifans' Lizard and Jamie Foxx’s Electro.

Marvel has done a lot to try and keep thebig surprise ofSpider-Man: No Way Homeunder wraps. While photo leaks periodically popped up prior to its release, actors like Garfield were always quick to try and shut it down. As much as some wanted the confirmation of Garfield and Maguire’s appearances inNo Way Homebefore it was released, the surprise of seeing them in a Marvel Cinematic Universe film reprising their former roles is still an exciting adventure.
