With a character being that important to the future of a massive franchise, no one wants there to be issue after issue.
It’s that exact line of thinking that has led many fans to begin wondering if all the issues surrounding Kang and his actor Jonathon Majors are going to result in a new major villain taking his place. The problem is thatKang is already set up as a massive multiversal threat, meaning setting up a new villain will be a challenge, but if executed well, it could be one of the biggest opportunities just waiting to be capitalized on in the history of the MCU.
Marvel’s Issues With Kang And Jonathan Majors
The issues with both Kang and Jonathon Majors are well-known at this point. Jonathan Majors has been dealing with a massivecontroversy in his private life thanks to domestic assault charges. As one might expect, this has put his future in the MCU in question for a lot of people, and according to recent reports, it seems like a trigger may have finally been pulled. With Marvel being a part of Disney, the typically family-friendly company may not want to have a lead villain for one of their properties with a lot of baggage, even if Majors manages to come out of the situation unscathed.

Further, there have been some issues with Kang among fans ever since his introduction. The biggest being that many fans were disappointed when it seemed all but confirmed thatKang would be the new Thanosmoving forward. With dozens of incredible and iconic Marvel villains for the MCU to choose from, a lot of fans who don’t read comics were left scratching their heads. Kang may be seen as a formidable threat to fans of the comics, but the average movie-goer may have no clue why they should care about the threat of Kang, and the job the MCU has done thus far setting him up is mixed, to say the least.
If the newest rumors are to be believed, Marvel has decided to abandon Kang as a major villain altogether moving forward. While that will be a major upset for a lot of fans of Kang and Majors, this move isn’t the end of the world. Marvel is home to some of the most iconic villains in comic book history, and there are more than a few waiting in the wings for their shot at a massive storyline. With both the X-Men and Fantastic Four still to come in the MCU, Marvel really could shock the world by setting up something all new.

No one should be surprised thatMarvel has the capability to bring in a new villain. In fact, it’s something that many fans have been theorizing ever since the introduction of Kang. Letting go of all of the character development that’s been done for Kang thus far will certainly be a hit for the MCU, but it provides a unique opportunity to prop a villain up into such a dangerous position that he is capable of conquering the seemingly infinite versions of Kang. Whether Kang is removed sooner than many MCU fans think he will be or a decision is held off until a newAvengersmovie, Marvel has a serious chance to recapture the magic from the first massive epic of the MCU.
The first of the potential villains that could come in to replace Kang is none other than Magneto. While he is typicallyonly a villain (and sometimes an ally) to the X-Men, he’s such a massive threat that he could easily act as a major villain for the whole MCU. With all the multiversal chaos, there’s even an opportunity to capitalize on bringing in Onslaught one of the most dangerous mutant threats ever known (and yet to be seen on screen) that would create a massive twist. The combined consciousness of Professor Charles Xavier and Magneto makes for a horrifying enemy and potentially one that could doom the MCU as a whole.
As great as Galactus is, it’s hard to see how he’d end up being poised as an even greater threat than someone like Kang at this point in the MCU. What this means is instead, the cosmic threat of The Beyonder could be an interesting option. While he is a lesser-known figure in Marvel, he does wield power equivalent to that of a god. Being the catalyst behind the originalSecret Warscrossover event, someone like The Beyonder should be kept in mind as Marvel pivots to a new major villain.
The one option that the entirety of the internet is calling for is none other than Doctor Doom. Being the major driving force behind the modernSecret Warsevent, and one of the most powerful Marvel villains, he’d be a great choice. Considering the Fantastic Four are coming soon,setting up Doctor Doomcould be handled in a lot of interesting ways. The master of science and magic, Doctor Doom could make an appearance before the team that is destined to stop him ever does. Things get even more interesting when Doctor Doom’s personality is kept in mind, as he is exactly the kind of person who would travel the multiverse to ensure he is the strongest being alive while getting revenge against his hated enemy, Reed Richards.
