There are a lot of decisions players can make inMarvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. Paying the Nova Corp fine may have been the main goal for the team during the first half of the game, but they soon realize that there are more important issues happening.

After appealing to theWorldmind inMarvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, the team can’t leave until Peter (AKA Star-Lord) decides to pay Nova or not. The choice actually does have a small effect on the ending of the game, so this guide will go over all of the consequences of paying the fine or not.

Should You Pay The Fine in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy?

It may seem like an important decision at the time, but it’s actually just a fun way for players to decide how irresponsible they want their Peter Quill to be and can play out differently in a few minor ways.

Not paying the fine inMarvel’s Guardians of the Galaxywill add an additional scene to the end of the game. Whereaspaying the fine will unlock the “Galactic Frugality” Trophy/Achievement. There are no other significant consequences tied to the decision. However, some dialogue between characters is altered as a result of either choice.

How much the fine is, and if players can afford it or not, depend on two things: what they chose to hide from Nova Corp at the beginning of Chapter 2 and how much they spent while exploring Knowhere in Chapter 6.

If players hid the llama, their fine will be 7000 Units, but if they hid Rocket’s illegal tech, it will be 8000 Units. While exploring Knowhere before talking to Cosmo, players will have many opportunities to spend their Units. Like at theMarvel Easter Egg-filled Collector’s Emporium or the food stall.

Before talking toCosmo inMarvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, players can actually win 1000 Units by playing the ball game with the floating brain-looking creature while exploring. Just be sure to only play the game once, or it will con players out of 1500 Units. Don’t interact with the children by the food stall either, or they will sneakily steal 950 Units while Star-Lord is distracted.

IfStar-Lord inMarvel’s Guardians of the Galaxydoes overspend during Chapter 6 and chooses to pay the fine after talking with the Worldmind later, it won’t work, and players won’t get the Trophy/Achievement. His teammates don’t sound impressed with his money-handling skills, and players will receive the additional scene at the end of the game for not paying the Nova Corp fine.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxyis out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
