Summary
The classicMarvel vs. Capcomgames are finally coming to the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Steam this year inMarvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics, a compilation of seven old-school arcade titles. Back before Marvel became the cinematic juggernaut it is today, the House of Ideas licensed some of its most famous mutants to Capcom forX-Men: Children of the Atom, an arcade fighting game that capitalized on the then-currently runningX-Men: The Animated Series- and would eventually spawn the largerMarvel vs. Capcomfranchise.
Not too long afterX-Men: Children of the Atom, Capcom would team up with Marvel again forMarvel Super Heroes, this time drawing from a larger pool of Marvel heroes and villains. The World Warriors of Capcom’sStreet Fighterfranchise would soon be thrown into the mix forX-Men vs. Street FighterandMarvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter, which in turn would lead to a full-blown collision of universes in1998’sMarvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes. This blockbuster crossover would see a handful of sequels and inspire other Capcom collaborations, though there haven’t been any new entries since the divisiveMarvel vs. Capcom: Infinitein 2017.

While the gaming world waits for a newMarvel vs. Capcomsequel, fans will at least be able to dive into the classics that started it all later this year.
