Metroid Primeis one of the most beloved sub-series within theMetroidfranchise. Originally released on the Nintendo GameCube,Metroid Primequickly achieved massive success, winning numerous game of the year awards in the process. Now, it seems the developers behind the highly anticipated fourth installment have started to move onto the next phase of the game’s development.
It’s been well over three years sinceMetroid Prime 4was confirmed to be in development. Though, since that time, additional information regarding the game’s development has been hard to come by. While Nintendo has not released any official information involvingMetroid Prime 4, that doesn’t mean that assumptions can’t be made in terms of what Retro Studios advertises on the company website.

Retro Studios recently posted three new Product Tester positions on its company website. The details of the job description are interesting in that they refer to pre-released software, but nothing specific is mentioned. Clearly,Retro Studiosdoesn’t want to outright advertise that these jobs will be forMetroid Prime 4, but given the timing of these postings and the lack of reactive feedback regarding the release ofMetroid Prime 4, it seems safe to assume that the development team has some sort of build of the game.
Of course, it is important to note that this is just an assumption. Unless official news is announced directly by Nintendo, these job postings should be taken with a grain of salt. After all, Retro Studios might be involved with other projects outside ofMetroid Prime 4. Perhaps this could be in reference to the potential Nintendo Switch port of theMetroid Primetrilogy.
Two years afterMetroid Prime 4was initially announced, the entire project was scrapped and development was handed over to Retro Studios, the development team that produced the previousMetroid Primegames. The company is also responsible for developingDonkey Kong Country Returnsand its sequelTropical Freeze. With any luck, the studio will give fans some actual news regardingMetroid Prime 4.
But after Nintendo announced that Retro Studios would be taking over development onMetroid Prime 4fans have been trying to get any pieces of information that they can. The only news fans have managed to glean regarding the game’s development have been the various developers that have been recruited to the development team. Most recently, theMetroid Prime 4team brought on a former developer from theGod of Warteam at Sony Santa Monica.
Metroid Prime 4is currently in development.
