Minecraft Dungeonsdrops tomorrow, and fans cannot be more excited. The highly anticipated game from the creators ofMinecraftis breaking out into new gaming territory, and it just gets wilder from here.
Building uponMinecraft’s blocky origins, the self-proclaimed action adventure game will feature brand new enemies, items, and areas to explore. Players can bring up to three friends to swing swords and shoot arrows alongside as they save the villagers from the invading undead and investigate strange new areas. From the Overworld to the End, players will slice and pierce their way through missions that take place in all the classic places. And if leaks prove true, there will be many more interesting places in between.

Being a less survival/construction-type game and more action focused,Minecraft Dungeonshas more wiggle room for things like more detailed objects and storyline. Undoubtedly this will appeal to a new niche of gamers, as well as keep longtime fans coming back for more. After all,the iconic cubic style has caught the world by storm, and a game like this can keep things fresh.
DLC packs, expected to be released either alongside or shortly afterMinecraft Dungeonsitself, will be available with the Hero Edition, but others will have to pay just $5 each. Each featuresblocks and mobsthat were not seen in the default game. This comes alongside a series of pictures that depict the new areas classicMinecraftplayers will recognize as the Snowy and Jungle biomes.
“Creeping Winter” looks like it will be a bleak, snowy biome dominated by crumbling structures and snowy canyons. Frozen zombies wander the landscape in search of tasty villagers. Snow drifts down lazily from a grey overcast sky onto birch trees. Kneeling statues overlook a crumbling bridge to a foreboding castle. There’s even a polar bear!
“Jungle Awakens” will take place in a lush, humid biome, dominated by flowers as big as a zombie’s head and what appear to be temple ruins. What appears to be some sort of walking venus flytrap can be seen lumbering its way through the jungle. It certainly doesn’t look friendly, and since the vine-covered skeletons don’t seem to mind it, players will undoubtedly have to contend with its long, blocky arms and possibly thorny exterior.
YouTubers and other streamers, particularly the infamous CaptainSparklez, known for hisMinecraftmusic videos, have had access to this game for weeks, and that has only whet the appetites of Steves and Alexes everywhere. This fresh new look at a classic game has a lot of promise for the future, andDLC is likely to be Microsoft’s strategygoing forward.
Some players argue that DLC isonly marginally better than loot boxesin terms of fairness. If Microsoft releases DLC that features biomes available in the original game but not available in the baseMinecraft Dungeonsgame, players may feel a little cheated. Microsoft would have to verify that the DLC comes with enough content to soothe critics and make the $5 worth it.
Minecraft Dungeonswill be available May 26th, 2020 on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
