PopularTwitchstreamer Matthew “Mizkif” Rinaudo has ended a Twitch PlaysPokemonlivestream early without specifying his reason for it at the time, leading to some speculation. TheTwitchstreamer has been trying different things to bring back lapsed viewers, but thePokemonstream wasn’t particularly successful.
During a December 2 Twitch livestream, Mizkif continued his Twitch PlaysPokemonadventures withPokemon Ruby and Sapphire, not a type of content that’s unique to his channel. The concept of Twitch playingPokemongames began way back in 2014, and since then, the creator of it has gone through several generations ofPokemonall the way up toPokemon Sword and Shield’s Gen 8. Although the Twitch PlaysPokemonidea has worked for some popular content creators, Mizkif failed to reach the numbers he may have been expecting given a statement that he later shared.

A clip of Mizkif’s Twitch PlaysPokemonstream has reached over 4,000 Reddit upvotes in less than a day, showing the moment thatPokemon Ruby and SapphirestarterMudkip’s evolution is deleted by votes from the chat. The level 25 Marshtomp was selected next to a Shroomish in a PC storage box before being released by the trainer, making it disappear from the save file forever. Less than a minute after thePokemon Ruby and Sapphirestarter was deleted, Mizkif ended the Twitch PlaysPokemonstream early before sharing a Twittlonger with his community that explained why he made the decision.
Mizkif returned to his Twitch stream on December 2 by hosting the Twitch PlaysPokemonevent after taking some time off, announcing his reappearance on the Amazon platform just two days ahead of time. Garnering only a fraction of his audience for the Twitch PlaysPokemoninteractions than before the recent controversy, Mizkif pointed to low views and the loss of his starter Pokemon as the reason for canceling the event. Because one of the terms that Mizkif attached to the return stream was a deal toget back to full-time Twitch streamingupon the completion of the game, some of his audience was stunned to discover that he won’t really be back until his investigation is finished.
While many Mizkif fans expressed their disappointment in Twitch PlaysPokemonending on the channel so suddenly, others suggested that the viewership was average for the time frame that he chose to stream during. As onePokemonenthusiast pointed to the fact that thepopular Twitch streamerdidn’t have to be there because it’s basically an “interactive screensaver,” another stated their confusion with Mizkif canceling it when he wasn’t participating anyway.
