Inexperienced and seasoned veterans alike will reap the benefits of the newly-implemented features. The PCI, or Plate Coverage Indicator, provides an overlay consisting of a box located over the plate and an aiming mechanism. The idea is for players to place their focus on where they believe the ball will go, concentrating their power and swinging into that specific location. PCI became a hot topic of conversation during theMLB The Show 22tech test, as the supportive tool received appreciation from pitchers and batters alike. The same idea translates over to the pitching aspect of the game, where throwing pitches into a specific spot harbors greater power behind the throw and a better chance at striking out the competition.
The Perfect Accuracy Region (PAR) is an option that will aid players who may not be familiar with the variety of pitches and where they should go. The PAR guides the player to throw any pitch into the suggested location, giving players a better chance at throwing a strike. This will be a great tool for new players, who may feel overwhelmed with the number of throws, and what the differences between a slider and a cutter are. Whether it’s on theXbox consoleor the Nintendo Switch, pitchers and batters will be on an equal playing field with these tools.
Fielding is expanding its approach to its perfect throw mechanic. InMLB The Show 21, the feature was specific to outfield players, but this year’s game will incorporate that function into all players on the field. Now, first basemen, shortstops, and outfielders will all have a brief moment of placing the throw in the correct trigger location and executing it before time runs out. The key difference this year is that players can prepare for their throw before the ball is in their glove.
