Summary

ACall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3player surprisingly discovers that their COD Points total has suddenly gone negative, leaving them wondering what happened. With mostlive service games currently available includingCall of Duty Warzone, the constant updates and additions of new content can make for a volatile environment, with glitches and bugs being a common occurrence for many players.

Call of Dutyis a prime example of this, with players reporting all sorts of strange occurrences, sometimes more of an inconvenient visual issue, to things that can be a bit more game breaking. For example,Call of Duty Zombies players recently discovered a bugthat allows them to kill each other, adding a PvP element that isn’t supposed to be active in this game mode. While not nearly as game breaking, another player has noticed a strange issue with their COD Points total, seemingly putting them in debt with Activision.

Over on theCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3subreddit, a user named Freet-Treat posted a screenshot of their home screen on the game with a caption questioning why they’re suddenly in debt with COD Points, thepremium currency Activision uses for its recentCall of Dutytitles. The screenshot shows a surprising total of -2050, indicating that this user technically owes COD points for some reason.

Reactions to the surprising COD Points total left many feeling surprised or making puns at the expense of Freet-Treat. OtherCall of Duty Modern Warfare 3fans attempted to explain the strange amount, indicating that something like this can happen when a player attempts to refund a purchase made using COD points. A user named Ianstrife had a similar situation happen to them when refunding a Call of Duty Bundle, where instead of deactivating the content of the bundle, the price of the set is simply deducted from the account instead. Users essentially keep the items from the bundle, but the money used to buy the COD points is refunded, and the points then match the decrease. Others mentioned there may be a chargeback on the Bank or Credit Card used to purchase the COD Points, which could also negatively impact the displayed value.

As annoying as bugs and glitches can be,Call of Dutyhas had a tumultuous history with cheating, even though the situation has drastically improved over the past couple of years thanks to Activision’s addition of its Ricochet system. Recently, however, players have seemingly beenreporting a rise of cheating inCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, with aimbotting and other hacks ruining matches. Even though over 23,000 accounts have been banned since mid-November, there continues to be a large number of issues relating to cheating.
