It’s a lot of extra tasks that makeMonster HunterRisea different experience next toMonster Hunter World. Even though tracking down the sub-camps can be a chore, they are also not that hard in the grand scheme of things especially with the help of guides. There are eight sub-campsin the gameso let’s get to hunting.
Updated July 27th, 2022 by Sage Williams: With the release of the Sunbreak DLC,Monster Hunter Risehas now received two additional sub-camps, bringing the total from eight to ten: one on the Jungle, a remake of a fan-favorite map first seen back in Monster Hunter 2, and another in the Citadel, a massive new map made exclusively for Sunbreak.

The Jungle combines lush green areas, coastal beaches, and undergrounds caverns. The Citadel takes hunters through frozen highlands, swampy lowlands, and a towering castle ruin. Many quests in the Sunbreak DLC will take place in one of these two maps, so acquiring both sub-camps early will help hunters get to the hunt as quickly as possible.
10Jungle Sub-Camp One
The Jungle is the first new map hunters will visit inMonster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak. It only has one sub-camp, right in the middle of the map, just north of the massive central tree.
The camp is accessible from zone 3, through a small hole in the cliff side marked by several Golden Spiribugs; another, smaller entrance, can also be found in zone 9, through a tunnel on an elevated plateau. Once the camp is found, hunters must slay 8 Hermitaurs in Jungle, which can be found aplenty in zones 3, 4, and 10.

9Citadel Sub-Camp One
Hunters will come across the Citadel in the Urgent Quest to enter 3-star quests, against a Garangolm. It also only has one sub-camp, all the way in the north-east of the map. The camp is accessible through a cave north of zone 4, requiring a hefty climb all the way up the side of the cliff.

The camp is out of the way of most zones, but it has a small tunnel that leads to secret area with many spiribird spawns, making it an excellent spawn point for picking up buffs. To unlock the camp, hunters must slay 8 Boggi in the Citadel; they can be found primarily in zones 8 and 10, as well as in zones 1 and 3.
8Shrine Ruins Sub-Camp One
There is only one sub-camp in this first area of the game, which rests in the very back of the zone. It’s located just above the actual ruins of the area, towering above the flooded section in zone 10. It’s a quick enough climb to get up there if someone is skilled enough with Wirebugs and wall running.
After discovering it, hunters will need to complete an associated quest for Kagero, the masked merchant, which happens with every sub-camp. All one has to do is slay eight Izuchi in the Shrine Ruins. They gather a lot in zone 4.

7Frost Islands Sub-Camp One
The Frost Islands map has two sub-camps since it is broader than the Shrine Ruins. The first sub-camp is located in-between zones 6 and 7, in the middle of the small waterway as highlighted on the map.

In order to fully unlock it, a hunter needs to kill eight Zamite. These land-roaming sharks tend to frolic in water so try the underground waterway in zone eleven or the watered areas of zone eight and ten. Look out for their massive jaws.
6Frost Islands Sub-Camp Two
The other sub-camp in the Frost Islands is located between zone ten and eight, right above what looks like a rocky waterway. It’s stationed on a cliff onset, so it’s a quick climb. Unlocking it requires two Warm Pelts and four Monster Bone S items.
The bones can be acquired from bone piles on any mapin the gameand Warm Pelts can be obtained in this area from Anteka, the elk-looking monsters that hang out are zones 1 and 6.

5Sandy Plains Sub-Camp One
The first Sandy Plains sub-camp is located in the rocky area between zones 3 and 7. Players will need to slay eight Kestodon to actually unlock it.
These are the somewhat bigger, hardheaded lizards that like to charge after players. In this way, they are sort of like thebigger monster, Barroth. Kestodon can be found roaming around zones 2, 5, and 9.

4Sandy Plains Sub-Camp Two
The other sub-camp in this area is tucked away between zones 5 and 9. It’s the darkest gray spot in that rocky formation in the middle, which is almost entirely enclosed.

One will need to fight and slay a Large Monster to unlock this area: the Lagombi. That’s the rabbit-like monster that appears through random challenge ranks throughout the game. Get its pelt and two Monster Bone M items, which are dropped from low-rank hunts.
3Flooded Forest Sub-Camp One
Like the Shrine Ruins, the Flooded Forest is relatively small. This map’s one and only sub-camp is located in about the middle of the area, in the rocky valley between zones six and eleven. It’s another one that is tricky to spot, as it is almost fully enclosed.
In order to unlock it, eight Wroggi must be killed, which are the smaller, poisonous raptor-looking creatures. They can be found all over the map, in zones 8, 9, 10, 11, and 13.

2Lava Caverns Sub-Camp One
The first of the last sub-camps is located at the topmost part of the right side of the Lava Caverns map. Make sure to stay above the ground because the way this map is constructed when it comes to guiding players between above and below areas can be confusing.

That said, one must dive into the underground to unlock this sub-camp completely. Hunters must slay eight salamander-looking creatures called Uroktor, found in abundance in zones 13 and 14, and that’s that.
1Lava Caverns Sub-Camp Two
Last but not least, the other Lava Caverns sub-camp is located on the other side of the first sub-camp, almost directly between zones 6 and 7 at the dip of the two conjoining areas. Fight a Tetranadon, which is the toad-looking alligator monstrosity that likes to hang out in more watery maps like the Shrine Ruins, to get its hide.
Two Monster Bone L must also be gathered, and these can be gained from hunting large monsters. Do these gathering quests in low-rank huntsof the game.
