One of the trailers released forMortal Kombat 1at SDCC was focused on the Umgadi. The Umgadi are a faction of warrior priestesses who protect the royal family, with its current leader being Tanya. Other characters showcased in this trailer include deep-cuts likeMortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance’s Li Mei, along withclassic characters like Mileena and Baraka, and how they factor into this new timeline. In some of the shots ofMortal Kombat 1’s Umgadi trailer, fans have potentially spotted Khamelon in the background of some cutscenes while Li Mei is having a conversation with Tanya. This background character possesses the same translucent hair and pupil-less eyes associated with Khameleon. The uniform that this character sports is also a part of the Umgadi, further strengthening her connection.

One fan speculated that since Khameleon is allied with Tanya, who is also an ally of Mileena, that the character’s uniform could change colors depending on who she’s working with in the story outside of gameplay. This was a feature from the early games as well, where Khameleon would change colors to adapt to who she was fighting. Regardless, Khameleon is one ofMortal Kombat’s more obscure ninja characters, so the potential to have her as a Kameo or even full-fledged fighter is an exciting prospect for fans.

Khameleon first made her debut in the Nintendo 64 version ofMortal Kombat Trilogyas a hidden character, before making the jump toMortal Kombat: Armageddon. She possesses the power to turn invisible and has access to each weapon of the original trilogy’s female ninjas. ConsideringEd Boon teased that fans would be seeing more Ninja characters returning, Khameleon would fit right in.
