Multiple signs indicate thatMultiVersusmay be returning soon. Fans have patiently waited for the full launch ofMultiVersus, which has not been playable for months.

Back in June, developerPlayer First Games closedMultiVersus' beta, which showcased the fighting game’s solid mechanics and assortment of Warner Bros-owned characters. The wide variety ofMultiVersus' characters included options like Superman, Shaggy, Arya Stark, Bugs Bunny, Tom and Jerry, Rick Sanchez, and many more. AfterMultiVersus' beta was closed, Player First Games confirmed that the title’s full release would land somewhere in the first half of 2024, and it seems that date might not be far off.

New MultiVersus Update Has Fans Wanting to Save the Game

The most notable sign ofMultiVersus' impending release, which was spotted by journalist Edmond Tran, is an Australian McDonald’s web page, which says “Coming soon… WB MultiVersus!” above images ofMultiVersus-themed cards that will presumably be sold with McDonald’s purchases. This possibility was backed up by a Canadian McDonald’s employee andMultiVersusfan, who noticed the unreleased cards in their store and posted an image of them to Twitter. Furthermore, SteamDB indicates thatMultiVersus' Steam entry was updated multiple times on February 27. All of these signs seem to indicate that a trailer, release date, or other info regardingMultiVersuswill likely be released soon, although an exact timeline is still unknown.

MultiVersus' Release Date Might Be Announced Soon

When it returns, it’s likely thatMultiVersuswill feature new charactersand a plethora of gameplay improvements. It’s hoped thatMultiVersuswill remain a free-to-play game and will be available on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC. The FAQ onMultiVersus' website suggests that Player First Games considersMultiVersusto be a live-service game, which will receive an “ever-expanding cast” of characters and stages. Player First has a massive library of popular universes to choose from, thanks to Warner Bros.

When it was available,MultiVersuswas considered by some to beone of the betterSuper Smash Bros. cloneson the market. MultiVersus focused on its competitive aspects more than the casual side of things and featured quick, fluid, and satisfying gameplay when using most characters. Its potential free-to-play approach and wide range of characters from massively popular franchises could create a pretty large player base shortly after launch.

One ofMultiVersus' main competitors will likely be the already-releasedNickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2which just received an updateand similarly features a list of characters from popular franchises.All-Star Brawl 2is regarded by many as a solid fighting game after the disappointment of the firstAll-Star Brawl, but it remains to be seen which of the two fighting games will come out on top.
