A staple childhood toy of many gamers is making the transition from a physical product line into a fully-fledged video game.NERF Legends, a sci-fi FPS based on the beloved Hasbro toys of the same name, officially launches today. The brand new title has released an impressive launch trailer, showcasing the game’s true-to-life weaponry, character customization, and more.
News of the game’s existence first came to light back in August, whenNERF Legends’reveal trailerwas released. The initial trailer touched on the game’s key features, like its character and weapon models, as well as hinting at the basic premise of the title’s campaign.

Posted onto developer GameMill Entertainment’s official YouTube channel, the roughly 80-second trailer opens with the mysterious masked and hooded figure from the first trailer, who is shaping up to be the game’s main antagonist. Showcasing a sizzle reel of clips interspersed with punchy calls-to-action, the trailer reveals a few key details about what kind of content is inNERF Legends. One of those calls-to-action says “Defeat the Masters” showing shots of different characters, suggesting multiple bosses. The trailer also shows off player customization, displaying a variety of both character and weapon cosmetics.
Described by GameMill Entertainment as a “kid-friendly FPS,“NERF Legendslooks to be an accessible entry into the world of first-person shooters. GameMill Entertainment appears to be a well-trusted game maker for youth-related properties, as its also the developer for the recently releasedNickelodeon All-Star Brawl.TheSuper Smash Bros.-like platform fighter has been met largely with success, utilizing fans' nostalgia from across eras of Nickelodeon shows. Despite releasing just last month, DLC fighters for the game have already leaked, whichincludesAvatar: The Last Airbender’s Prince Zuko.
Although there’s no word ifNERF Legendswill have any DLC or crossover content of its own, NERF itself is creating ties to a very well established, more mature shooter. A pair of NERF skins have been confirmed forHalo Infinite, in that of the MA40 and Bulldog SG. In addition to the two weapon coatings, a NERF dart weapon charm is available as well. The catch? Players must purchase either ofthe real-life NERFHalo Infiniteweaponsin order to obtain them.
With NERF’s heavy association withHalo Infinite, it stands to reason thatNerf Legendswill import some UNSC or Covenant weapons later down the line, albeit the NERF-ified versions. Here’s to hopingNERF brings its expensive NeedlerintoNerf Legendsin the future, altough the sci-fi title looks to have plenty of imaginative weapons of its own.
