A leak claiming to have information about an upcoming November Nintendo Direct is teasing new information aboutAnimal Crossing: New Horizons. While the leak is unsourced and unreliable, similarAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsleaks have proven surprisingly accurate at times.
According to the leak,Animal Crossing: New Horizonswill be theSuper Smash Bros. Ultimateof the franchise with regards to its villagers. That is to say that every villager will be available inAnimal Crossing: New Horizons. The leak also teases that theAnimal Crossingpart of the Nintendo Directwill talk about crafting and multiplayer, but doesn’t go into detail. It then describes how players will use amiibo cards to invite specific villagers into their town. The villager will even bring an exclusive gift with them, likely to make the amiibo cards more tantalizing to potential buyers. When the villagers visit, players will be able to try and persuade them to stay permanently.
With so many villagers being available inAnimal Crossing: New Horizons, prospective players are likely curious to know how big their village/city can be. According to the leak, players will be able to expand their city in addition to their house. The final upgrade for a player’s city will apparently allow for 24 different villagers. For comparison’s sake, the max number of villagers inAnimal Cross: New Leafwas 10.
As exciting as this newAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsinformation is, and as believable as it may seem, it has to be reiterated how unreliable it is. The leak stems from an anonymous post on the 4chan imageboard, where a dozen similar “leaks” about all manner of topics are shown to be fake day-to-day. If the leak, which also includes information aboutSuper Smash Bros. UltimateandPokemon Sword and Shield, is true then the first evidence of it will be the announcement of a Nintendo Direct on November 13. Nintendo Direct plans tend to be revealed late, so it may be a couple more weeks before hearing more.
Animal Crossing: New Horizonsreleases June 01, 2025 exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.
