Summary

Sledgehammer Games released a small update to fix certain problems plaguing the switching process fromCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3toModern Warfare 2.This update comes after the game developer released the massive day one patch forModern Warfare 3.

Modern Warfare 3’s launch could be described as shaky. Aside from its short, lackluster single-player campaign, its multiplayer mode has various performance issues and bugs that requireda 51 GB day one patchto fix. Though the patch also contained other content, such asModern Warfare 3’s zombies mode and content forCall of Duty: WarzoneandModern Warfare 2, it didn’t have anything to fix the problems plaguing players switching toModern Warfare 2fromModern Warfare 3.Players on the PC cannot playModern Warfare 3without openingModern Warfare 2first due to Activision consolidating everythingCall of Dutyunder the latter.

As a result, Sledgehammer announced it released a small update containing fixes for the two bugs it found when switching back fromModern Warfare 3toModern Warfare 2. According to the game developer’s post on Twittera day after it releasedModern Warfare 3to the public, the update fixes the issue where loading intoModern Warfare 2fromModern Warfare 3could result in longer load times than expected. It also addresses the bug that causes the game to crash when entering the Weapons tab when cross-launching fromModern Warfare 3.

Sledgehammer launching this update is vital for gamers playingModern Warfare 3on the PC.Because of Activision’s decision, PC gamers may have towait at least 70 to 90 seconds to openModern Warfare 3. Unfortunately, the waiting time may vary depending on a PC gamer’s hardware, meaning the wait time could be longer for those running the game on its recommended or minimum system requirements.

Sledgehammer’s Twitter post didn’t mention anything other than what the update was about. Nevertheless,Modern Warfare 3players used the post as an opportunity to ask Sledgehammer to fix the game’s other unresolved issues. These problems include the game’s tactical sprint after sliding, inaccurate sights, and players' FOV getting zoomed too far out when aiming down the sights. Only time will tell when Sledgehammer will release a fix for these issues, though the day one patch as well as thetemporary removal of some Hardpoint mapsdue to poor spawning mechanics is at least a start.
