The upcoming open worldHarry PottergameHogwarts Legacyis not a PlayStation exclusive, but it is still strongly tied to the PlayStation brand, having first been unveiled at a PS5 event in September 2020. Even thoughHogwarts Legacyis a multi-platform game, it will still have some features exclusive to PS5.

Hogwarts Legacyrecently released a “Next-Gen Immersion” trailer explaining what the next-gen versions of the game will enjoy, and more specifically, what playing the game will be like on a PS5. The trailer starts off by hyping the game’s 4K visuals, which is something that will be available to players on both PS5 and Xbox Series X, before talking more about what fans can expect exclusively from the PS5 experience.

As one might imagine, the PS5 exclusive features inHogwarts Legacylargely revolve around the console’s DualSense controller and its unique capabilities. One’sHogwarts Legacyhouseis represented by the DualSense’s light bar color, while the haptic feedback is used to make moments like flying on a hippogriff or barreling down the tunnels at Gringotts more immersive. Haptic feedback will also be apparent when casting spells inHogwarts Legacy, and that’s where the DualSense controller’s adaptive triggers will come into play as well.

Besides taking advantage of the DualSense controller’s features, the PS5 version ofHogwarts Legacywill also have 3D audio support. Combining all these features should help players get more immersed whenexploring Hogwarts inHogwarts Legacyor battling other witches and wizards in duels. The other versions of the game should still provide a near-identical experience in terms of actual content, but they will be missing out on some of these capabilities.

Xbox gamers who feel left out when it comes to DualSense features should note that Microsoft has noticed how popular the new PS5 controller is, and so an Xbox-equivalent may come eventually. Microsoft has not yet announced anXbox version of the DualSense, but it would be surprising if one weren’t introduced at some point. That way multi-platform third-party games likeHogwarts Legacycould offer the same features across the board instead of catering only to PlayStation gamers.

With theHogwarts Legacyrelease datemere months away at this point, fans should be able to look forward to more information on the highly-anticipated game being revealed in the near future. It’s possible it will have a presence at some of the upcoming gaming events in June, but that remains to be seen.

Hogwarts Legacyis in development for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
