With a little over a month to go beforePeacemakerarrives onHBO Max, the promotions for the series are picking pace. Director James Gunn shared a new featurette that offers a look at some new footage from the series, behind-the-scenes fun, and the first proper look at Peacemaker’s new “BFF” Adrian Chase, a.k.a. Vigilante.
It has been confirmed that Freddie Stroma will be portraying the role of Vigilante in theHBO MaxseriesPeacemakerand has even appeared in the official trailer. But, the new featurette offers insight into the type of relationship that he and Peacemaker will share in the series. It seems clear thatJohn Cena’s Peacemakerwill not be quite pleased by Vigilante’s antics, but somehow, he seems to tag along.

In DC Comics,Vigilante is an anti-herowho fights criminals, not superheroes. However, there have been several characters who have taken on the mantle of Vigilante, with Chase just being one of them. His look in the series seems comic book accurate, with the dark costume and helmet-like mask. He does seem like a more light-hearted, quirky version of the character from the comics, but this could perhaps be his time before he becomes mentally unstable.
As part of the featurette, Cena, Stroma, and Gunn reveal that Vigilante essentially looks up to Peacemaker, and thinks of him as his best friend. There are some hilarious clips of the two characters interacting during the eight-episode series, and they give off the perfect sibling-duo vibes. It seems like what they both have in common is “doing atrocious things in the name of justice.”
All eightepisodes ofPeacemakerwere written by Gunn, and he will also be directing some of them. Other directors to join the roster include Brad Anderson, Jody Hill, and Rosemary Rodriguez. Apart from Cena and Stroma, the cast includes Jennifer Holland as Emilia Harcourt, Steve Agee as John Economos, Chukwudi Iwuji as Clemson Murn, and Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo.
Peacemakeris all set to become the first television series that is connected to the DC Extended Universe. The show, which is a spin-off ofGunn’sThe Suicide Squadthat release earlier this year, will follow the story of Cena’s popular character and the misfits that he teams up with to achieve his goal. Similar toThe Suicide Squad,Peacemakerwill maintain a quirky and comedic tone, based on the trailers that have been released so far.
Peacemakeris scheduled to premiere on HBO Max on June 21, 2025.
