The newSilent Night, Deadly NightCollection is bringing three less-seen and little-known sequels to the holiday horror classic to Blu-Ray just in time for Christmas, courtesy of Lionsgate.

The original film in thehorrorfranchise,Silent Night, Deadly Nightquickly established itself a prime spot in the developing Christmas slasher genre in 1984, featuring a murderousSanta Claus on a bloody rampage. Scarred by his parent’s Christmas Eve murder, a young man, Billy, puts on a Santa suit and begins killing. The original film was a box office flop but gained further audiences in the past four decades via home video and streaming. It was followed up by a sequel titledSilent Night, Deadly Night Part 2, where Billy’s younger brother, Ricky, takes on the role of killer Santa.

According toBloody Disgusting, while the first two films have been available on Blu-Ray for a while, the later sequels that are part of theSilent Night, Deadly NightCollection are new additions. This new edition includesSilent Night, Deadly Night 3: Better Watch Out(1989),Silent Night, Deadly Night 4: Initiation(1990),andSilent Night, Deadly Night 5: The Toy Maker(1991). The three later sequels went straight to video when they were released and are lesser-known installments in the franchise.

TheSilent Night, Deadly NightCollection also features previously unseen features, including audio commentary, interviews with producers, directors, and cast, and a discussion of the film series' impact on the horror genre. “InBetter Watch Out, it’s a very bloody Christmas after Ricky Caldwell, the notorious ‘Killer Santa Claus,’ awakens from a six-year coma with one thing on his mind: murder,” reads the official synopsis for the Blu-Ray collection. “InInitiation, a reporter’s investigation into a mysterious death leads her into the clutches of a cult that’s chosen her as its new queen, andThe Toy Makerstars entertainment legend, Mickey Rooney, as a toy maker whose creations display some very human – and deadly – tendencies.”

While these sequels are lesser know than the first two films, they are no doubt great additions to the campy holiday horror world that the original set up, with plenty of good bloodshed and scares to be had.
