Since Amazon’sNew WorldMMO launched late last month, there have been a wide range of different issues surrounding the game. A lot of this concern had to do withgetting into theNew Worldserverswithout having to wait in long lines. However, for Twitch streamer Marcus “Dyrus” Hill, the issues were a bit more personal. The streamer was recently banned from the game for a short period of time. According to him, it’s unclear exactly why Amazon handed down the punishment.
InNew World, as is the case with almost every other multiplayer title, the in-game chat can get raunchy. Yet there’s always a thin line between “raunchy” and abusive. It appears as though Dyrus crossed that line in the eyes of Amazon. However, because the company wasn’t entirely clear on what Dyrus did beyond “using abusive language,” there’s a bit of a question as to what triggered the ban.

What Was The Abusive Language Used In New World?
Part of the difficulty in deciding what language Dyrus might have used in order to get banned is that games have differentstandards for what constitutes a ban of any kind. The other factor in trying to sleuth out why the Twitch streamer was booted fromNew Worldis that there are a couple of instances which could have led to the punitive measures.
Some of those who were around whenDyrus spoke the words that got him bannedknew that what he was saying was nothing more than an off-color joke. One fan posted a clip of him on Twitter using the global chat to ask people, “Does anyone know where DN is?” He then followed up with, “Deez nuts.” It would seem most people could agree that even if some found that inappropriate, it’s hard to draw the line to it being abusive.
However, it’s possible the streamer posting in global chat might have been an issue due to an entirely different exchange. Another follower said the situation came about when he was using what appeared to beactually abusive terms in theNew Worldchat. The user claimed Dyrus was calling other players the “r word.” It was said the streamer likely thought the chat would automatically censor that particular word but it didn’t.
So far, there’s a bit of an open question as to just why Amazon handed down the punishment that it did. After he was booted, Dyrus appealed the decision, but wastold byNew World’s supportthat after it investigated the incident, it felt as though the punitive action was warranted. The good news for the streamer is that he wasn’t kicked for long. As of this writing, he’s back to playing the game. At the same time, it has to be a bit difficult to not have a specific example out there to let him know what language or behavior led to getting punished in the first place. If Dyrus was using the slur he’s purported to have said, it seems as though he probably deserved the crackdown byNew World.
