Initially launching devoid of the life promised by its developers, the team at Hello Games has worked consistently over the last six years to ensure that the exploration title gave fans a meaningful experience. One of the waysNo Man’s Skyhas given players new free contentis through its expeditions.Originally coming to the game in early 2021,No Man’s Sky’sexpeditionsare multiplayer events where all players spawn in the same location with a random collection of technology, ships, and weaponry. The latest expedition to be brought toNo Man’s Skyis the Polestar expedition, which marks the game’s eighth. This will slowly unveil more about the freighter’s predicament and how the players arrived on it in the first place, giving the Polestar expedition a bit more of a mystery for players to solve as they work through its phases. Alongside revealing the mystery of their freighter, players will also earn some cosmetic items such as posters and ship customization options.

There’s also a new jellyfish-likecompanion forNo Man’s Skyshould a player complete the Polestar expedition. However, for those who are in no rush to get to the expedition, they need not be worried. While Polestar is available now, it will run until September 21, givingNo Man’s Skyplayers around six weeks to finish the expedition. Should they complete it early, users can convert their Polestar progress into a normal save file manually, something that only used to happen at the end of an expedition.

The Polestar expedition comes straight afterNo Man’s Skyreceived its Endurance update, which reworks how freighters operate, giving players more customization options when it comes to their ships and fleet. With the addition of portholes and observation decks to a larger vessel within a fleet, a player can now feel like they are in command of some luxurious, space-faring ships.
