Nvidiais currently the front-runner in terms of graphics card technology, ahead somewhat when compared to its main rival AMD. With Intel now about to enter the race,Nvidia is looking to release an RTX 3050to try and stay ahead of the competition. On top of that, the tech giant is also pushing forward into the next generation of GPUs, and while it’s not certain when this momentous day will occur exactly, word has been spreading that the next iteration of hardware from “team green” will potentially tower over its current champion product.
According to a recent report, which cites a tweet direct from someone who works at a Taiwanese factory, some details about the next generation ofNvidiagraphics cards has been leaked. The speculations so far suggest that the 4000 series will almost certainly triumph over the RTX 3090, which is one of the most powerful cards on the market currently.

While the unconfirmedRTX 4090 will likely have 24 GB of GDDR6, similar to the 3090, other specifications have it down as a much loftier piece of hardware, which is understandable given that this is the next gen of GPUs, and that also this is Nvidia. Details suggest that the 4090, if that is what it will be called, will have around 75% more CUDA cores than its predecessor, containing 18,432 cores over 10,496 for the 3090. The 400 series will also be built on a TSMC 5nm node, as opposed to the 8nm Samsung ones of the current generation.
The 4090 will still, supposedly, have the same 384-bit memory bus and will still be using GDDR6X memory type, but it’s looking like the next gen will be the gold standard if these leaks are anything to go by. Although there is no date as to when the next generation is likely to arrive, rumors suggest theNvidia 4000 series could release in mid-2022, which would be sometime after Intel’s first generation of Arc graphics cards have hit the shelves, perhaps looking to overshadow its new rival.
As of now, the information above is only speculation and there doesn’t appear to be any official confirmation fromNvidiaon the hardware specs at the time of writing. Hopefully by the time the next generation of GPUs comes out, the shortages that have been plaguing the tech world will have eased up. But withNvidia itself unsure if it will be able to meet demand, it’s unclear exactly how the market will look by the time the technology leaps into the next era.
