The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivionis a game known for its hilarious bugs and moments. One of these moments shows a clip of an aggressiveOblivionNPC harrassing the player, refusing to use their weapons and instead resorting to their words.
The clip starts with the player walking away from sounds of a distant, angry voice. The voice turns out to beanOblivioncharacternamed Dunius Menanius walking in random directions near a door and shouting not-so-kind words at the player.

The player, Reddit user Coboez, faced taunts, jeers, and confusion from thebuggedElder ScrollsNPC, and attempted to escape the onslaught of insults by running away. However, Dunius Menanius proved to be a persistent adversary, and followed Coboez wherever he went. Eventually, Coboez grew weary of the verbal assault, and shocked Dunius to death, ending his rhetorical reign of terror.
Other Reddit users had a field day with the clip, making plenty of jokes about the NPC’s tirade of insults. One user joked that Dunius “does not like violence” but that he “can hurt you in other ways.” Another user joked that “Having run out of proper arrows, he resorted to hurt you the only way (Dunius) could: emotionally.” Yet another user commended Dunius for his skills, calling him “The most vicious tongue in all of Tamriel.” Coboez quipped that it especially hurt his feelings when Dunius called him pathetic.
Enemies inOblivionwill use many different strategies to attack the player, but Dunius Menanius' strategy is certainly one of the most creative. Rather than resorting to his weapons like some sort of savage, Dunius would rather give his enemies a piece of his mind, letting him know what he thinks of them. Then, when he has their attention, he taunts them to fight him, with cries of “do your worst,” and “show me what you’ve got.” The most surprising moment of the video is when Dunius resorted to one ofOblivion’s most underhanded tactics, stealing Coboez’s key right from his pocket, continuing to insult Coboez while he did it. Though harmless physically, Dunuis proved himself to be one of the most dastardly andtalkative NPCs inOblivion.
The Elder Scrollsseries holds fond memories for many gamers, not only because they are great games, but also because of hilarious moments like this.Bugs inOblivioncan be gamebreaking at times, but in the case of Dunius Menanius, sometimes bugs make for some of the best clips in gaming. Dunius just got lucky he never appeared inThe Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, or he may have found himself on the receiving end of a shout or two for his trouble.
