Everyone that playsOverwatchhas their favorite characters, as certain designs, stories, and movesets resonate with different people. OneOverwatchfan seems particularly fond of Zenyatta, so much so that they got a permanent tattoo of the healer on their leg.
Part of what makes Zenyatta so interesting is that so little is known about him. Zen lacks an animated short or comic of his own, with the most that is confirmed about the character’s history being his mentorship of Genji and a position as a Shambali monk. This has allowed fans to come up with countless theories while also giving Blizzard complete freedom whendesigning alternate skins for Zenyatta. With the character already having a unique look, some of these skins have been particularly memorable – though one stands above the rest in the eyes of many.

One of the most popular Zenyatta skins is Cultist Zenyatta, which was added duringHalloween Terror2017. The skin sees the peaceful monk reworked to have a Cthulhu-inspired design, with squid-like tentacles and a fresh color scheme. A memorable touch sees several exclusive voice lines being added for the skin, with a few others being reworked so that he says something different. Even his Ultimate ability Transcendence has been changed, as he is given tentacles instead of hands. With so much attention to detail, it is hardly a surprise that many have grown attached to the outfit, with Reddit user Mr_Cabra showing their appreciation via a tattoo.
The tattoo is huge, covering a majority of Mr-Cabra’s leg in the image that was shared withtheOverwatchcommunity. There are several neat details to take note of, such as the orange orbs floating above Zenyatta’s head. Below, his throwable orbs can be seen, with each of the weapons boasting a creepy green eye like they do in-game. However, the star of the show is Cultist Zenyatta himself, as the artist did a phenomenal job of capturing his robotic appearance.
Alongside the blue glow beneath the tentacles and in Zenyatta’s eyes, the raised textures make the purple tentacles stand out. All the slits reflect that the character is not human, an important detail for anyartist trying to recreate Zenyatta. The hood is also well done, as it is clearly a different material due to the subtle indent that can be seen on top of it. Unsurprisingly, those commenting on the post had a lot of praise for the tattoo, with the photo also receiving over 2,500 upvotes from fellowOverwatchfans.
While a smartZenyatta HUD change is coming inOverwatch 2, fans have yet to see what his new character design is going to be. As such, the monk could have a brand-new look that is worthy of a detailed tattoo just like this one.
