Summary
Based on recent video evidence, it appears thatPalword’s Lifmunk Effigies may not be functioning properly. While the Lifmunk Effigies are supposed to increase the player’s capture power, which in turn should make capturing Pals easier, many reports byPalworldmonster-catchers claimed they actually have the opposite effect.
Developed by the Japanese studio Pocket Pair,Palworldhas enjoyed a tremendous amount of success in a relatively short time since its early access release date on January 19. The open-world survival and monster-taming game captured the attention of many gamers, who quickly started drawing parallels between its gameplay and that of the popularPokemongames. WhilePalworldhas an impressive number of concurrent players on Steam, some of them cannot help but wonder if some bugs might have gone unnoticed by the developers.

Lifmunk Effigies Could Actually Hinder Players
In an interesting video posted on their channel, YouTuber Chalenor investigated the capture rate of Pals for a character utilizingLifmunk Effigiesversus one that doesn’t. The results are interesting, to say the least. Apparently, not only did their findings imply that Effigies do not enhance capture rates, but they may, in fact, hinder them. Chalenor’s experiment involved capturing 100 low-level Pals with both characters. Surprisingly, the character using Lifmunk Effigies caught only 37, with 63 escaping the Pal Sphere. In contrast, the other character, without the Effigies, managed to catch 52 Pals, with only 42 escaping.
Ultimately, the results of the test showcased a notable difference in capture rates. The Lifmunk Effigies route concluded with a final capture rate of 37%, while the No Effigies route demonstrated a higher success rate at 53%. While the outcome may align with what some players are reporting onPalworld’s forums, it is still important to acknowledge the experiment’s limited sample size. Additionally, Chalenor’s approach did not specifically target a singletype of Palat the same level, introducing variables that could significantly impact the overall interpretation of the findings.

The game’s developers have, so far, demonstrated a proactive approach in addressing the game’s bugs, exemplified byPalworld’s recent 0.1.4.0 update. The update was released a few days ago and successfully tackled a number of critical issues reported by players, including the save data corruption that happened when a guild’s total number of captured Pals reached around 7,000. That being said, many players are expecting an official confirmation from Pocket Pair that clarifies whether or not the Lifmunk Effigies are working properly.
