It is an unexplored period of time for one of the major sequel trilogy characters, and Disney should consider showing fans just what went down all those years ago.
Poe Dameron was one of the faces of theStar Warssequel trilogy, and many viewers fell in love with the character thanks to Oscar Isaac’s performance. He was a devoted member of the Resistance, and the movies hinted at a much deeper backstory under the surface. It was not untilThe Rise of Skywalkerthat the sequel trilogy started to explore this, but it only went so far. It introduced Zorii Bliss and mentioned some history between the two characters before they were quickly whisked away to stop Emperor Palpatine. The story was left untapped, and that leaves video games to come pick up the pieces.

Poe Dameron and Zorii Bliss' Story Explained
Zorii Bliss was the leader of the Spice Runners on the frigid planet of Kijimi. It was there that she ran the criminal organization, but her life turned upside down whenthe protagonists of the sequel trilogy arrived duringThe Rise of Skywalker. She was reunited with Poe and helped the main characters find Babu Frik. The First Order ended up destroying Kijimi, and Zorii came to the aid of the Resistance during the climactic Battle of Exegol. That is all thatStar Warsfans have seen of Zorii, but there is a bigger backstory between her and Poe that is waiting to be explored.
When Poe Dameron was young, he was recruited to the Spice Runners of Kijimi by Zorii. This was long before Zorii was the head of the Spice Runners, and the two became pretty close. They did grunt work together, and Poe eventually taught Zorii how to fly. However, their relationship became strained once Poe learned that Zorii was actually the daughter of the leader of the Spice Runners at the time.
Zorii’s mother had planned to take over the entire criminal underworldby killing all her enemies, but Poe could not stand by and let that happen. Zorii responded by attacking Poe, and he became an enemy of the Spice Runners. Zorii attempted to convince him to join her in usurping her own mother and taking control of the Spice Runners, but Poe refused. Instead, he escaped the planet and was told never to return.
Poe eventually went on to join the Resistance, while Zorii became the leader of the Spice Runners. That was where their story ended until they were reunited inThe Rise of Skywalker. The only way to experience this backstory is through theStar Warsyoung-adult novelPoe Dameron: Free Fall. It chronicles his time in the Spice Runners and explores his relationship with Zorii over the years. However, this backstory deserves to be explored in a far greater fashion.

Poe and Zorii’s Story Would Make a Good Video Game Setting
One of the things thatStar Warsfans have been clamoring for is a video game that explores the criminal underworld of the galaxy. They were supposed to get this experiencethroughStar Wars 1313, but that was canceled when Disney bought Lucasfilm. Since then, there have been no signs of an underworld-focused video game in theStar Warsuniverse. This could all change if Disney gave a developer the ability to create a Poe Dameron and Zorii Bliss title.
A title exploring the backstory of these twoStar Warssequel trilogycharacters would have to be an exploration of the criminal underworld. That is where they met, and that is where the focus of their entire story is. The heists that they embarked on as members of the Spice Runners of Kijimi, and the power grab that Zorii’s mother attempted are all deeply rooted in the criminal underbelly of the galaxy. A developer could craft an action-adventure title around these events, and it would give players a massive taste of this part of the galaxy.
A title about Poe and Zorii could also help fill in somegaps left by the sequel trilogy. One of the common critiques of the era is that it is just very underdeveloped. Many of the characters have not been fleshed out past their basic form, and the story ofThe Rise of Skywalkerjust kind of comes out of nowhere. Disney has also not done much to fill in these gaps as it seems to want to tell more stories in-between trilogies instead of during the sequel trilogy. A game following these two characters has a chance to help fix that.
Poe was relatively well-received by theStar Warsfan base due to his charisma, but his story has barely been explored. This would not only help satisfy the want for a criminal underworld story, but it could also help flesh out one of the main characters of the sequel trilogy, Fans who are interested in the story can always readPoe Dameron: Free Fall, but there is something very special about being able to play a part of the story in aStar Warsvideo game.
