Summary
A talentedPokemonfan has recently devised a new regional variant for Crustle. Regional variants were introduced in the seventh generation ofPokemongames, which takes place in the Hawaiian-inspired region of Alola, and have inspired many fans to try out their unique takes on the concept over the years.
Crustle is a Bug/Rock-type creature that resembles a crab under a rock, and it was introduced inPokemon’s Gen 5. Known as the “Stone Home Pokemon,” Crustle can be caught in Route 18 or the Seaside Cave in Gen 5 games, or acquired by evolving Dwebble starting at Level 34. The Pokemon has some pretty high Defense value when compared to its other stats, and can learn powerful moves such as Rock Wrecker.

Now, aPokemonfan called AJ_illustrates decided to show Crustle some love by sharing an artwork that depicts a new regional variant for the Bug/Rock-type monster. This variant is quite similar to the original critter, but has greyish-brown skin, and lives inside a pyramid instead of a rock. While not based in any official region of thePokemonworld, it’s clear that the creature was inspired by the Egyptian pyramids.
Crustle Regional Variant Pokemon Fan Art
A few months ago, another fan also decided to create amazing Crustle fan art. In this case, theartist designed a Mega evolution for Crustle. Curiously, they went for a similar idea to AJ_illustrates, as the rock on Crustle’s shell becomes a huge temple carved in stone in this design. The creature also seems to gain bigger claws and a menacing face in this Mega Evolution.
Another armored Pokemon that recently received incredible fan artwork is the Bug/Steel-type Forretress. At the time, a fan invented aMega evolution for Forretress, turning the creature into an actual fortress based on a real-life location, the Spanish castle of Castillo Nuevo de Manzanares el Real.
There’s no shortage of Pokemon based on crabs, lobsters, and similar creatures, and some of them have been reimagined in fan art before. For example, aPokemonfan drew Paras as every typerecently. In their fan art, this person created 19 versions of Paras, one with each subtype, and one full Bug-type design. The designs were pretty interesting, as the fan changed the colors of the creature and what’s on its back for each type. For example, the Fire-type Paras had flames instead of mushrooms, while the Electric-type had some kind of antenna.
