A talentedPokemonfan shared fan art showing what it would look like if Tropius had a Mega Evolution. Over nine generations ofPokemongames, many alternate forms for pocket monsters have been introduced. Some Pokemon, however, have been left out, leaving it up to fans to imagine what their alternate appearances would look like.
Among these “forgotten” Pokemon is Tropius, one of severalPokemon based on dinosaurs. Tropius was introduced in Gen 3 and two characteristics catch the eye. The first is the appearance of this Grass/Flying-type, a sauropod-like Pokemon with green leaves covering parts of its body. The second is that Tropius does not evolve into or from any other Pokemon. Interestingly, although Tropius is a bulky Pokemon, it has no problem flying. These Pokemon live in tropical jungles, and the fruits of Alola’s Tropius are sweeter than the fruits of Tropius from other regions.

Reddit user MarceloGiribaldi shared on thePokemonsubreddit their idea of a Mega Evolution for Tropius. Although it was controversial when introduced in Gen 6,Pokemon’s Mega Evolution mechanicshave become an aspect remembered fondly by fans. Much of this is due to Pokemon like Lucario, Gengar, and Mewtwo, whose new designs have made them even more popular. In the fan art, MarceloGiribaldi keeps the idea of Tropius' body design, while changing the appearance of the leaves and the Pokemon’s head. Another interesting detail is the Pokemon’s color palette, which was changed to make it a sort of “Autumn Tropius.”
In the comments on MarceloGiribaldi’s post, other Redditors showed a lot of love for the Mega Tropius. One of the comments said they thought it was a “crime” thatPokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphirenever featured a “Mega Banana Tree.” The Gen 3 remakes introducednew Mega Evolutions for some Pokemonlike Slowbro and Pidgeot. Another commenter said they hated how Mega Evolutions were abandoned, and revealed that, unlike other players, they liked the mechanics. In addition to creating Mega Tropius, MarceloGiribaldi also shared fan art of the shiny Mega Tropius, with colors more in line with Tropius' original palette.
The Mega Evolution concept inspired otherimpressivePokemonfan art, and it is no different with the Mega Tropius created by MarceloGiribaldi. While otherPokemonfans go for highly detailed and elaborate designs, Mega Tropius impresses with its simplicity. The design created by MarceloGiribaldi is effective and well-thought-out, and manyPokemonfans would have no problem imagining Mega Tropius being added to the games.
