Pokemonfans are second to none when it comes to an artistically talented fanbase. Fan-made creations through just about any medium possible are regularly making the rounds online, and today is no different. A very talentedPokemonfan is getting thousands of likes for their impressive crocheted version of Sigilyph.
For those who may be unaware, Sigilyph is a Psychic/Flying-type Pokemon introduced as part of the franchise’s fifth generation. First seen in 2010’sPokemon Black andWhite, Sigilyph has a rather rare quality, in that it is one of the fewPokemon that does not have any evolutions.

A Reddit user with the aptly-selected handle of u/pokemoncrochet is the one behind the crocheted version of Sigilyph. Nearly every single detail about the Pokemon is expertly recreated in the woven piece of art. The wings and feathers all have the signature yellow with red and blue striping at the tips, as does Sigilyph’s body with the green and black zig-zag pattern. The only real difference is the pseudo eyes, which appear to be separated into blue and white dots. However, considering the entire thing is hardly larger than hand size, the Sigilyph creation is nothing short of impressive.
While crocheting the rather obscure fifth-gen Pokemon is quite the achievement, one fan is going much further. Not only are they doing every single Gen 5 Pokemon, but they’re alsocrocheting every single Pokemonin existence. PatternsByJazz has already made dozens of Pokemon out of yarn, utilizing fan polls to determine what character to create next. Given that Sigilyph is one of the more obscure options fromPokemon, it may be a while before u/pokemoncrochet’s has a proper counterpart.
Pokemon’s fifth generation is also becoming a much more talked-about topic in recent months. With the release ofPokemon Brilliant DiamondandShining Pearlbeing a remake of Gen 4, the talk of possible remakes has now advanced to Gen 5. One of (if not the only)Pokemongenerations to receive fully-fledged sequels rather than a third release, there are some who want to see both titles combined into one modern title. Other fans believe the mold-breaking games would be served better assomething closer toPokemon Legends: Arceus, but nothing has been announced either way.
Despite no word from either Game Freak or The Pokemon Company, speculation about a new version of Sigilyph’s original game has already begun. Theories of whatPokemon BlackandWhite’s Unova region could look like in a new gameare forming, with the proposition of an open-world design and a time jump making the entire prospect of thePokemongame quite enticing.
