As part of the Time Ultra Unlock event inPokemon GO, Kabuto currently has a boosted spawn rate, along with other Pokemon like Voltorb, Porygon, Omanyte, Cranidos, and Shieldon. TheTime Ultra research and rewardswill end on August 3, 8pm local time. Shiny-hunters will want to make the most of this by boosting the appearance of the usually very rare Kabuto even further.

As a dual rock/water-type, there are many places a Kabuto can currently appear inPokemon GO. However, some areas are better for attracting the fossil Pokemon than others, and additional items can be used to increase trainers' chances of spawning it, making it easier to farm for that shiny Kabuto.

Where to Find Kabuto and Shiny Kabuto

Kabuto is usually a very rare sight inPokemon GO, but due to its boosted spawn rate can easily be found by playing the mobile game in a few different areas, including:

Even outside of theUltra Unlock Time event, Kabuto still has a chance of spawning in these types of areas, but at a greatly reduced rate. If trainers can easily travel to an area that has a few of these recommended rock/water spawn locations it will increase the chances of spawning the Pokemon even further. These increased numbers are ideal for farming shiny Kabuto, whose sparkling-variant turns green to indicate its shiny status.

To boost a shiny Kabuto spawn inPokemon GOeven further, players can:

Lure Modules increase the spawn rate of all Pokemon at a PokeStop, while Rainy and Magnetic Lure Modules will attract water and rock-types at a higher rate. Incense is like a portable Lure Module that works only for the trainer who activates it. Lure Modules and Incense are available for the in-game shop for anybody who doesn’t have some spare in their inventory. Friends should activate Lure Modules together if they are both searching for a shiny Kabuto together, and want to conserve theirPokemon GOPokeCoins.

Another bonus way that trainers can find Kabuto, is to incubate a 7K Egg acquired during the Ultra Unlock Time event. These eggs are obtained by opening gifts from friends when aspare Pokemon Egg slot is available. However, Kabuto is one of seven Pokemon found in these eggs during the Time event, and Omanyte, Aerodactyl, Lileep, Anorith, Cranidos, or Shieldon could also hatch.

If trainers are lucky enough to find a shiny Kabuto using these methods, they should continue to look for another before the event ends on August 3. Kabuto evolves into Kabutops, so players will need to catch 2 to complete the set for this rare fossil Pokemon.
