Pokemon Legends: Arceusis a uniquePokemontitle that takes its players into the past, back when people feared Pokemon and lived in clans. As the player meets more and more characters living in the Hisui region, they may notice some familiar faces from the other games. These familiar faces are more than just a coincidence, as players are actually meeting the ancestors of known characters like Professor Rowan,Champion Cynthia, and Gym Leaders like Candice.
There is more to these ancestors than just similar designs. Some even have the same Pokemon as their descendants, showing that the apple really does not fall far from the tree. While they may look the same and use similar Pokemon, though, some have very different personalities.

Commander Kamado And Captain Cyllene
An ancestor that has claimed a lot of attention is Commander Kamado of the Galaxy Team organization. He looks just like a younger Professor Rowan from theDiamondandPearlgames. They have the same face shape, mustache, and eyebrows. It is interesting how the commander is the ancestor of the Pokemon professor becausePokemon Legendsdoes have a Pokemon professor as well, Professor Laventon.
Captain Cyllene is one of the most visibly obvious ancestor characters, as she has the same unique traits as Boss Cyrus fromDiamondandPearl. They both have the same stern face, blue hair, and even their names are similar. It also makes sense for someone that was a captain in the old Galaxy Team to later have a descendant be the boss in the modern-day Galaxy Team.
The Wardens
The Wardens ofboth the Pearl and Diamond clansalso bear familiar faces. One such recognizable design is the look of Warden Arezu. Her design is near identical to Commander Mars in Sinnoh. She is not the only one though. Warden Mai is also strikingly similar to Marley both in design and name. Sabi’s green hair in braids gives her a clear connection to Cheryl in Sinnoh.
One Warden appears to be the ancestor of a gym leaderfrom theBlackandWhitegames. Warden Lian looks like a younger Clay, cowboy hat and all. Lian is just one of a couple of examples of ancestors with descendants that are not necessarily in the Sinnoh region in future games. Another Warden that is the ancestor of a Gym Leader is Gaeric. His pompadour is similar to Kalos Gym Leader Wulfric, and they are both associated with Ice-type Pokemon.

The Bandits
The three bandit women inPokemon Legendseach possess a familiar face. Clover looks exactly like Gym Leader Candice and also uses the same type of Pokemon as her. Candice is an Ice-type Gym Leader and Clover uses anIce-type Pokemon, Abomasnow. Charm looks like a younger version of Bertha or Agatha, both being members of the Elite Four in different regions.
Coin’s descendent is a little different from others, as he is a man, and she is a woman while most other descendent-ancestors are of the same gender. Her descendent is Saturn, one of the members ofSinnoh’s Galaxy TeaminDiamondandPearl, as the two have the exact same unique blue hairstyle.
Ancestors In Jubilife Village
Perceptive fans have found plenty of other ancestors in Jubilife Village both in major and minor characters. One that caught fans off-guard was Sanqua, as she is the spitting image of Karen, who is an Elite Four member that specializes in Dark-types inPokemon GoldandSilver. There is also Volo, who has many similarities to Champion Cynthia both in their hairstyles and in using similar Pokemon. Professor Laventon is hinted to come from the Galar region, so fans have theorized he could be the ancestor of Galar characters such as Leon and Hop. This could further be hinted at by Laventon’s purple hat and darker skin ton, as Hop and Leon have purple hair and tan skin.
Fans have also had their eyes on Pesselle, who has pink hair and is researching medicine. It is possible she is the ancestor ofNurse Joys, though she also resembles a character in previous games named Mira. The rare item seller inPokemon Legends, Ginter, also bears resemblance to Sinnoh Gym Leader Volkner. The other seller, Tuli, has sleepy eyes and blonde hair that fans have connected with Unova Elite Four member, Caitlin. Even the woman who sells clothes, Anthe, appears to be the ancestor of Battle Frontier Trainer, Darach, as they have the same hair, purple clothes, and both have glasses.
Another shopkeeper inPokemon Legends, Choy, is the ancestor of one of Team Galatic’s Commanders, Charon, with identical classes, hair, and posture. Even the man who is a simple farmer in town, Colza, is an ancestor, having similar hair to theGrass-typeSinnoh Gym Leader Gardenia. Of course, the characters Akari and Rei (whichever character the player does not choose) is the ancestor of Dawn or Lucas. Fans have also theorized that the potato mochi man, Beni, is the ancestor of Wally since he has streaks of green in his hair and uses similar Pokemon. At the end of the game, Beni even hints that he will be moving to a different region which is how his decedent ended up in Hoenn.
