The latestPokemon Scarlet and VioletTera raid battles have been canceled not even a day after they started.Pokemon Scarlet and Violetplayers that attempted to defeat these raids were met with issues that caused Nintendo and The Pokemon Company to take action.On the evening of May 18,Pokemon Scarlet and Violetplayers reported somecrashes when taking part in Tera raid battlesagainst Great Tusk and Iron Treads online. One of the issues that sprang up was, upon defeating either of these 5-star Paradox Pokemon, an item labeled “None” would display on the rewards list, and the game would promptly crash as a result. Suffice it to say, a game crash can put a player’s game save data at risk of corruption, among other problems. Though the ninth generationPokemongames continue to be ridiculed for their bugs and performance issues, this problem is just the latest in that trend.RELATED:Pokemon Fan Shares Paradox Doduo ConceptAs a result of these reported crashes with these raids, Game Freak promptly chose to cancel the 5-star Tera raids for Great Tusk and Iron Treads, as well as the 7-starTera Raid battle against Chesnaught the Unrivaled. However, according to Serebii.net,Pokemon Scarlet and Violetplayers that missed out on these raids will get another chance at a later point in time. At the time of writing, Nintendo has not announced when the rescheduled raids against Chesnaught, Iron Treads, and Great Tusk will take place. Social media was quick to ridicule Game Freak and The Pokemon Company for allowing this problem to happen and questioned how it got through quality assurance testing. However, otherPokemon Scarlet and Violettrainers speculated as to what the items labeled “None” could possibly have been, if anything.
The cancelation of these Tera raid battles comes less than a week before the long-awaited release of thePokemon Scarlet and Violetupdate to Pokemon Home. The update is slated to arrive on Wednesday, May 24, and will allow Pokemon from the eighth generation to come to Paldea, including Hisuian variants fromPokemon Legends: Arceus. Whether the Tera raid battle delay will have any adverse effect on the release of this upcoming Pokemon Home update or not remains to be seen.
In the meantime,Pokemon Scarlet and Violetplayers will want tokeep a lookout for a game updatenext week. While the update is slated to fix some issues related to the games' competition modes, only time will tell when a fix for these affected Tera raid battles will arrive.
