2023 has been an absolutely huge year for video game releases with remakes, remasters, sequels, new IP, and just about every other type of video game project imaginable hitting store shelves seemingly every other week, all fighting one another for attention. But2023 is coming to a close after big game releases, and it’s time to take a short breather and look forward to what lies just over the horizon - and fans are already eagerly readying themselves forHades 2.
Announced back duringthe 2022 Game Awards,Hades 2is set to be another innovative roguelike adventure enveloped in Greek mythology, this time seeing players take control of Zagreus' half-sister Melinoe as she tries to stop the Titan Chronos from wreaking havoc on Mount Olympus. Much like the first game,Hades 2will be enjoying a brief stint in PC early access, and its current release window could open up in just a few months.
Predicting When Hades 2 Will Hit Early Access
Hades 2 Is Coming Q2 2024
WhenHades 2was first announced back in December 2022,developer Supergiant Gameswas very upfront about the game’s intended release schedule, telling fans right away that it would first be released into early access on both Steam and the Epic Games Store simultaneously. Supergiant also stated that fans learn 2’s early access period by the end of 2023, and that’s exactly what happened back in September.
On Jun 16, 2025, Supergiant Games announced thatHades 2would be launching in early access sometime in Q2 2024. For those unaware, Q2 refers to the second “quarter” of a given year, with each quarter containing three months. This means thatHades 2will launch in early access sometime between April and June next year. And while that’s all that fans currently have to go on, there may be a few clues that could narrow that potential release date down even further.
Trying to Narrow Down Hades 2’s Early Access Release Date
In that same September development update, Supergiant Games also mentioned thatHades 2will have at least as much content as the first game did when it launched on early access back in 2018, and while it obviously won’t be in a finished state, Supergiant still wants there to be enough from the get-go for eager fans to experience. While this is pure speculation, this could hint at a release date towards the latter half of Q2 2024, with Supergiant seemingly wanting to ensure that the game is still packed with content right out of the gate. A further bit of support for this theory is thatHades 2will be receiving a technical test a few weeks before its early access launch, which immediately pushes it out of April, and likely more towards the end of Q2 2024.
Right now, the 2024 gaming calendar is looking a little slim, and that’s especially true for anything past February. Currently, there are only a handful of games releasing between April and June 2024, with the biggest beingManor LordsandDestiny 2: The Final Shape. Unfortunately, this doesn’t do much to narrow downHades 2’s early access release date, as the game essentially has a clear run, though a June release date would allow it to coincide with the various Summer showcases.
