July 19 was the first major update toPS Plus Extraand Premium’s catalogs, setting a really high bar for future additions. Not only was theviral hitStrayreleased day one on PS Plus Extra, but a ton of other games accompanied it. ForAssassin’s Creedfans, this includes what amounts to a total of 7 games.
Furthermore, fans should be aware that more are on the way. It seems Sony intends to announce the Essential Tier on the last Wednesday ahead of the first Tuesday of every month, release thosePS Plusgames on Tuesday, and then follow up with an announcement and drop for the PS Plus Extra and Premium tiers in the middle of the month.

Included in thePS Plus Extra and Premium Games for July 19includeAssassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection(which consists of three games:Assassin’s Creed 2, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood,andAssassin’s Creed Revelation),Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, Assassin’s Creed Rogue Remastered, Assassin’s Creed Freedom Cry, andAssassin’s Creed Unity.
This means the only current exceptions areAssassin’s Creed 1, Assassin’s Creed 3, Assassin’s Creed Liberation, the Assassin’s Creed Chronicles, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, Assassin’s Creed Origins, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, and a handful of side games. Indeed, with more Ubisoft games confirmed to come to PS Plus, there’s a foreseeable future whereeveryAssassin’s Creedgamecould be playable from PS Plus Extra.
This would make a strong addition to the library for fans of the franchise to revisit older games or check out newer ones. The exclusions ofAC1andAC3are the most confusing, since the rest of the early games are available. However, there arerumors of anAssassin’s Creed 1Remaster or Remake in the works, and Ubi/Sony could be waiting for that.AC3already has a remastered version out, though.
Assassin’s Creed Syndicatewould then be the next in line, but it’s known that the game has issues when running on PS5. Ubisoft will likely want to fix these issues before adding it to the service, while adding the bigger open-world AC games one at a time would prevent the service from getting too bloated with these big games too soon.
Ubisoft also has a ton of games on Xbox Game Pass, withWatch Dogs 2recently joining the service andFar Cry 6being a rumored addition. All in all, it seems Ubisoft is banking hard on these services, and as long as the relationship is fruitful, it seems everyone—including theACcommunity—wins.
