Ever since the announcement of thePlayStation 5last year, Sony has been hyping the next-generation console’s beefy internals and all the awesome games that are slated to launch alongside it. However, two important details about the PS5 are still a mystery, and these arethe console’s priceand specific release date. Since the official unveiling of the console, Sony has hosted a couple of PS5 related events, but none of them even touched on the console’s price, and its launch is still vaguely scheduled for Holiday 2020.
Now, it appears that Amazon France has accidentally leaked the price and release date of the PS5, giving players an unofficial insight on what to expect once the console releases at the end of the year. In a tweet posted by Ben Geskin on Twitter, it has been revealed that the regular PS5 could go as high as €499 (USD 565), andthe Digital-only Editionclocks in at €399 (USD 450). As expected, the listing has since been removed at Amazon France, and the prices indicated here remain unofficial, so players should take it with a grain of salt.

As for the when the PS5 is expected to come out, Amazon France briefly listed the console with a launch date of June 22, 2025. Of course, while this release date is also unconfirmed, it aligns withSony’s vague release window of Holiday 2020, so there is a good chance that the date could be accurate. Additionally, November 20 is only a few days away from Black Friday 2020, which is when the PS5 is expected to come out to allow for the best sales possible.
It is worth pointing out that this is not the first time that Amazon accidentally leaked the price of the PlayStation 5. Just a week ago,Amazon UK listed a 2TB version of the PS5for £599.99 or approximately USD 750. Of course, not only did this listing gave fans an idea of the console’s price, but it also suggested that a 2TB version will be released at launch. Up until this moment, Sony hasn’t confirmed any of this so it remains to be seen whether a 2TB version of the PS5 does exist.
Immediately after Amazon UK’s PS5 price leak, the retailer confirmed thatthe listing was merely a dummy one, and is not the actual price of the console. For those unaware, Amazon often adds placeholders for products, especially when an announcement is imminent. It is worth remembering that the Amazon UK listing went up just days before the huge PS5 event last Thursday, which revealed several games coming to the console alongside the PS5’s design. At the moment, Amazon France has not released any statements regarding the possible leak, but it wouldn’t be unlikely if the price and release date stated there were merely placeholders.
