AQuantum Breakactor expressed interest in joining a possible sequel to the science-fiction action-adventure game, should it happen. WithQuantum Breakhaving no follow-up since its initial release back in 2016, fans have been waiting for a new chapter to the IP.Quantum Break’s developer Remedy Entertainment has released acclaimed franchises such asMax Payne, Control, andAlan Wake. With the Finnish studioworking on sequels to bothAlan WakeandControl, gamers have been wondering whether aQuantum Breaksequel should also be announced.RELATED:Xbox Console Exclusive Quantum Break is Now 5 Years OldActor Shawn Ashmore, who playsQuantum Break’smain character Jack Joyce, recently showed interest in being part of a sequel if Remedy makes it happen. He replied “I’m in!” in response to a tweet made by user JezCorden asking to bring backQuantum Break.Quantum Breakwas a successful gamethat focused on its time-manipulation mechanics and integrated a live-action television show within the game to show the results of the player’s actions. The show itself had an all-star cast, in which Ashmore joined the likes of Aidan Gillen and Lance Reddick, among others Hollywood actors.
Ashmore’s reply caught the eye of Remedy Entertainment’s Sam Lake who then responded with a heart emoji tweet—signifying his appreciation for the actor’s statement. Lake served as both creative director and executive producer forQuantum Break,so his reply could help push this project to fruition if he chooses to.
While Sam Lake is currently busy with thedevelopment ofAlan Wake 2, a sequel toQuantum Breakwouldn’t be farfetched as it took 11 years forAlan Wake 2to be announced. There are certainly many other titles in the Remedy Entertainment pipeline, however, if it can devote a team to work on the game, a lot of fans would be elated.
It has been a while since a game of similar magnitude and style has released, withControlandAlan Wake Remasteredmostly filling the gaps. AlthoughControlseems to be the closest in terms of game style, none can still match the unique live-action television show mechanic thatQuantum Breakintroduced. Besides,Quantum Breakhad always been envisioned as a series, with the first game implied to be the first season. Whether Sam Lake decides to push through with that initial idea or not, it’s up to the team at Remedy to make it happen. It will definitely be something to look forward to, especially for fans of Microsoft and Xbox.
