Although the vanilla experience is a graphical marvel in its own right, there are still ways thatRed Dead Redemption 2can be improved, and a series of mods give the Rockstar title a 4K boost, particularly for the game’s characters. With itsimmersive open-world gameplay mechanics, impeccable writing, and amazing story, the 2018 Wild West RPG is still lauded as one of the most impressive video games in recent memory in terms of scope and overall look.
While it’s nearly five years old, it seems as thoughRockstar is still committed to updatingRed Dead Redemption 2, with a patch being sent out not long ago. Though the update didn’t really come with a lot beyond security tweaks, fans were still surprised to see the game still being looked after by the developer. Given that the studio is focusing on the nextGrand Theft Autoinstallment, many assumedRDR2was going to be left behind, but even when Rockstar does say goodbye to the game, fans can always turn to the modding community.

to keepRed Dead Redemption 2looking its best, many have taken to releasing custom mods to tweak the visuals. A number of recent ones come from Nexus Mods user Instanity who has decided to give a visual upgrade to the game’s characters. The newest example of their work is simply titled “4K Story and Side Characters,” and it does exactly what it sounds like. Images on the download page show there have been improvements to faces, including hair and beards, as well as character models in general. Instanity also has mods that implement better-looking versions of both Dutch and Arthur Morgan.
Over the years, plenty of mods have come out forRed Dead Redemption 2to really wow fans. Of course, given that it’s considered by many to be one of themost graphically impressive games around, the base version alone is still an exceptional way to experience the story. However, users like Instanity continue to show that even gorgeous games can stand to have a little boost every now and then.
As mentioned above, with Rockstar now working on finishingGTA6, there isless chance of aRed Dead Redemption 3coming to fruition, at least for the time being. However, that doesn’t stop fans from wanting to see a new story in this universe. Whether the studio will see it fit to make a third entry in its celebrated Wild West series remains to be seen, but it’s good to know there are people in the modding community keeping the current entries in great shape.
