Quick-turn was a solution forthe stiff tank controls in old-genResident Evilgames. It allowed the player to turn around with a button or tw, without spinning the joysticks like a steering wheel. But in the originalResident Evil 4, the quick-turn mechanic became more than just a quality-of-life feature. It was masterfully integrated into the aim-and-shoot gameplay.

Luckily, Capcom kept the quick-turn mechanic in theRE4remake. The revamped Leon can still change his line of sight in a blink of an eye, proving his marksmanship skills once more. But there’s a catch; the remake’s controls differ from the original game, confusing many veterans about the quick turn buttons. To help with that, this guide clarifies everything there is to know about the new quick turns.

What Is Quick Turn in Resident Evil 4 Remake?

The quick turn is a rotation button. It allows the player to change their direction with an instant maneuver and look the other way. In theResident Evil 4remake, what the quick turn does is make Leon face the opposite direction as fast as possible.

Players who use the quick turn feature too often are better off with disabling the motion blur settings. Otherwise, they might be prone to motion sickness.

To turn quickly, hold down on the left joystick and press the right trigger(the dash button). On PC, the player will only need to press Q to quick turn. Note that Leon can’t quick-turn when aiming or holding out his knife. The feature works only when he’s walking, running, or crouching.

How to Change the Quick Turn Controls

Go to the Controls sections in the Options menu andchange “Quick Turn Type” to either RB (R1), LS (L3), or B (Circle).

Another keybinding method is changing the Control Types back tothe originalRE4. For that, the player will need to choose the C-1 controller type, which allows quick turns by pressing down + A (X on PlayStation.)

The player also has the option to turn the quick-turn off. But that’s not advised, as it’s much harder to make a 180-degree turn without this function.

TheResident Evil 4remake is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
